10 Verses for Building Unshakeable Confidence

Maybe, like me, you have experienced a time when you found your confidence, not just in yourself, but in God, rocked? I am so very grateful that God didn’t just fill the Bible with those who were successful every time or those who always got it right. If He did, I am afraid there would be too many times I would want to quit; completely give up.

Instead, He shared stories of those who failed, like David, and who got up, praised Him and kept on moving.

Today, God can make us brave, whether life is all coming together or all falling apart.

We can have a heart and mind that is set in place, secure, and attached, even when our circumstances say “failure”. The first step toward having this type of unshakeable confidence is by knowing what God’s word says to us and about us.

Here are 10 verses for us to build unshakeable confidence, not so much in us, but in the Holy Spirit who lives inside those of us who are His! Print this list out right now, carry it with you and soak your heart in this truth!

10 Verses For Building Unshakeable Confidence

 

Psalm 118:8, 9, “It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in humans. It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in princes.” (NIV)

 

Hebrews 10:35, “So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded.” (NIV)

 

Philippians 4:12, “I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.” (NIV)

 

Ephesians 3:12, “In him and through faith in him we may approach God with freedom and confidence.” (NIV)

 

Proverbs 3:26, “for the Lord will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being snared.” (NIV, 1984)

 

Hebrews 3:6, “But Christ is faithful as the Son over God’s house. And we are his house, if indeed we hold firmly to our confidence and the hope in which we glory.” (NIV)

Hebrews 4:16, “Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.”

 

Proverbs 14:26, “In the fear of the LORD one has strong confidence, and his children will have a refuge.” (ESV)

1 John 2:28, “And now, dear children, continue in him, so that when he appears we may be confident and unashamed before him at his coming.” (NIV)

1 John 3:21 – 22, “Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence before God;  and whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do the things that are pleasing in His sight.” (NIV)

    Confidence…something that I have rarely had in my life. God provides his unending love and strength and all we have to do is reach out and grasp it. Why is it so hard to hold on to? Years of hearing how fat I am from total strangers and years of allowing people in this ‘world’ make me feel i
    That I don’t measure up. I am 44 years old and feel almost completely incapable of having confidence. But I know that All things are possible out of this ‘world’ and therefore through the Holy Spirit I could accomplish more for His kingdom if I could let go of the hurts of the past. equally as important to me would be sharing this confidence with my sons girl friend. She has been through many trials. I would like to know her better and share this Loveing message with her.

    This hit home for me and as a mother, I immediately thought my daughter would benefit from this package. She is 19 and in her last semester of nursing school. It’s a tough one and she doesn’t feel as confident as she would like going into a critical test today. She is questioning God’s will in a personal matter as well and seeking confidence in His guidance. Even if we don’t win the giveaway, I will show her your Proverbs 31 article.   38. Thank you for these verses, Lynn. Your Proverbs 31 came just in time… I’m at a place where I’m doubting the path I’m on. My faith in God is thankfully in tact, but I am doubting if I “heard” Him right. I’d share these books with my two sisters, maybe even our mother. There are layers upon layers of hurt in all our hearts. I already have a copy of a confident heart and I’ve been telling my sisters this book is must read.

  39. First of all thank you for your words. These past two weeks have been an emotional roller coaster and included in that has been my relationship with God and the feeling of failure. Each day God brings his words to me through devotions such as yours and others from Proverbs 31 and other resources. Giving me confirmation and application for what He is wanting to do.

  40. Me. I dont hav the courage these other women do to tell my story. But ive been strongly persuing christ for the last 2yrs and i havnt found my heart healed. It makes me wonder where does my faith lack, Why cant i get out of this rutt? Am i not praying right? Im reaching for any resources that may help. Then i pass them to or share with a fellow christian woman who struggles thru life and doesnt have the means to accure the resourses herself.

I once heard that the process that hurt us was a slow one and the process to heal us is slow too. I know God will be faithful to you as you continue to follow after Him in pouring His word into your heart and obeying Him. May I pray for you?

      Jesus, I ask you to continue the good work you have started in Carrie’s life. Bring alongside of her those who can help her and encourage her, one step at a time, toward having her heart completely restored. Thank you that you will not give up on us…ever. You will see the work You have purposed to do in our hearts to the very end. Amen

  95. I’m amazed at how many of us want to share this with our daughters. College age, teens, tweens, etc. I too have a teenager daughter trying to remain fearless and confident in her school and with her friends. And she is normally the one who sets the good example for those around her. She has new struggling with this and is gradually losing her self-confidence. High school is hard sometimes for our teens. I want her to have the strength she needs to stay strong and make good decisions.

      Lord, help us, to partner with You to do the MOST GOOD for our kids. Fill us with Your confidence so we can pour this confidence into our children. Amen

  120. When I read today’s devo on Proberbs 31, I thought of our daughter Corrine. Then, once I read about this great book, I thought oh how can I find this for her. THEN, when I saw that you were offering this wonderful opportunity to win it, I thought Wow wouldn’t this be an answer to a financial deficit mother.

    Corrine does not let grass grow under her feet. There have been multiple areas in her/other young peoples lives that we have stepped up to bat on their behalf. The advocacy usually brings change, however, it takes place for the next student/young lady and not Corrine. Get the idea… feeling a great about the change, yet feeling a bit defeated because the outcome never afforded her the opportunity to reap those particular benefits.

    I know Corrine is witnessing a great life lesson. In turn, it has brought a bit of questioning whether the next “fight” is worth the battle. Building her faith & trust, self confidence, and strength in advocacy is what she and so many others may glean from such wonderful opportunities as this. TIA!

  122. I would like to share/give these books to my 21 year old daughter, Ricamae. She is at this point in her life, seeking a lot of help build up her confidence. Our devotion every morning enlightens her a lot. Thank You for your ministry.

  123. I want very much to be able to share this gift with our 22 year old granddaughter. We have been blessed by God to be able to raise her for most of her life! Though her life has been very different than her friends, she always refers to herself as our “6th kid”. She has a heart filled with the love of God that is seen by everyone she meets. Lately she has gone through two very difficult circumstances that have led her, not to question God, but her value and ability. She has believed that she knows God’s plan and purpose for her life, but because of what has happened due to others opinions, she feels as if she has failed in hearing Him reveal His plan for her. I pray that being able to read and understand how God uses struggles and hurt to show us His love and His presence will be a blessing to her and will fill her with the hope and future that God has planned for her.

  130. My Friend Melissa and I are both going through a divorce from toxic, unhealthy, narcissistic men. Being controlled and beat down for so long takes its toll. We are struggling everyday to keep above water and move forward, and remain hopeful for our futures. We both have young daughters and we talk about how we want so much to teach them to be confident and have strong feelings of self worth so that they will not make the same choices we did. All four of us girls could really benefit from resources to help our confidence and self worth as daughters of a King.

  136. My confidence has been shaken! For the past two months and even as recent as this morning where I listened for at least 30 minutes to “look what you’ve done, look what you’re doing to me, look at how you make me feel, look how you make me react this way” You, you, you! In all honesty, I don’t know what I’ve done nor what I’m doing to make someone say and feel these things. My finance is angry that I can’t/won’t set a date to be married because I’m hanging on to all the hurtful things he says to me. I have great fear and lack the confidence that our marriage will not be based on the “you, you, you” effect. I shut down instead of having confidence and standing firm. I KNOW that what he’s saying isn’t true but hearing it over and over begins fog my senses and I start believing that I’m not a good person and that I fail at every attempt. I seek God’s will and know God loves both of us. I just don’t know how to overcome the “look at you, look at what you, look at how you” comments. So, I would like to find confidence and be secure in who I am and who God has formed me to be. I apologize for the long post. It’s just all so fresh from this morning. So, I would like to read the books and soak-in the truth about who God made me to be.

      Good morning, friend. Just reading these words makes my heart hurt. I can fully understand why you would not trust, especially if this situation is not in the past, but in fact, is something that is still happening.

      I truly believe sometimes we cannot work on multiple things at once. Maybe now is the time to invest in you and your relationship with God and let the Lord take care of the details of this relationship. I pray He will give you the wisdom you need!

My husband and I are on our way towards missionary aviation and so I attempted to start a business to promote prayer for unreached people’s around the world(to help with a little financial cushion). I didn’t fail completely, but I’ve lacked the drive and confidence to keep it going(with two little ones constantly at my side). I truly have a desire but my confidence is low. I get part of this mentality from my mom… Who would also benefit from the books.

    If I would win this bundle it would be for my 14 year daughter. She is bright and strong yet struggles with the disorder of cutting her self which breaks my heart as a mom. I feel like somewhere I failed . I was not born in a christian family I recieved Christ as my savior in college and he healed me of wounds of and abused child who had an acholic father. When I married a christian man and my children were born into a christian base family I really did not see this for my daughter I thought things would be better for her than they were for me growing up. But this situation really gave a slap in the face that I am struggling and is really testing my faith. Also she wants nothing to do with God she states that she has pleaded to him to change her and he has not done so.

      Maria – my mom heart breaks for you. I know the pain of pouring your all into your child and yet things still do not go as planned. Friend – we can’t take credit when our kids “turn out” and we can’t take the blame when they don’t. As moms, our place is to pour in His truth. It is God’s job to bring that truth to light so they grasp it as their own. Keep praying for your girl, Maria! God is not done yet!

My heart was breaking and prayers were being sent up, because we can’t even imagine what other people go through. Even as I type those words, I know that our Lord knows, and He can handle it too.

Hold on to Philippians 1:6: “Bring confident in this, that He who began a good work in you will be faithful to complete it until the day of Christ Jesus our Lord.” Jesus isn’t done writing our stories! During the last year I have completely forgotten who I truly am. Am I the person my pain has turned me into, am I as horrible as my husband’s family claim that I have been, am I the unloved and forgotten that I feel like I am if I go by how the people in my life have been treating me as or am I really who God says I am. When relief came, so did their former self. Jesus, please empower my friend to find strength in her pain. Strength to survive and strength to be the woman she wants to be even in the pain. Amen
