How do you follow God when you can’t hear or see Him? How do you seek Him when the boost you need — to know He’s helping you — doesn’t come?

These are questions I’ve struggled with.  It’s at times like these, that my confidence is a little wobbly. When I don’t know if I should move, it’s awfully hard to make a move.

That’s one reason over the past year I have been digging into God’s word to find women (and a few men) who lived out confidence, even when their circumstances were falling apart.

Like Rahab in today’s devotion.

In the Bible, I found Rahab to not be the only one who built her confidence on a God she believed would see her through her fears and failures. I can’t wait to share with you all of these amazing women, some I had never heard of before I started writing Make Your Move: Finding Unshakeable Confidence Despite Your Fears and Failures.  {affiliate link}

Women like the Daughters of Zelophehad and Sheerah, who pushed past anxiety to do what God was directing them to do. Their steps of faith, probably taken while they were shaking, show us how to do the same! {Oh, and we’ll take a look at a few guys too!}

Psalm 37:23 has been a verse that has built my confidence in Christ even when my insides are shaking:

“The LORD directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives.”

Does knowing that God directs your steps and delights in paying attention to every detail bring you comfort like it does me?

This is a promise I have to remind myself of often because there are days – those days – when I am so unsure of my steps, probably like Rahab was in our Proverbs 31 Ministries devotion today. Yet even when she couldn’t see God, she bravely took steps forward, obeying the instructions she was given.

Friends, some days that is all we have; the instructions in God’s word that we have already been given. Those are the steps we are to take.

To love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength. Luke 10:27

To love our neighbor as ourself. Luke 10:27

In whatever we do to honor God. 1 Cor. 10:31

We can trust that as we obey Him in these small, daily steps, He will take care to direct our larger ones.

Maybe you would like to instill this type of confidence and bravery into a young girl you know? Maybe you want to be brave and instill this type of confidence and bravery into a group of girls?

  10. Insides are shaking today; my first father in law has a spot on his lung after having beaten cancer twice before. My first husband passed away 8 years ago. Then I heard at work today that there’s a possibility I could be moved to a different building this school year!! I’m overwhelmed and was looking for the free download. However, I think the bonus for me is the reminder from Psalms 37:23. Praise God that HE delights in directing our steps and every detail of our lives!
