Brave Beauty helps tween girls to:

– Gain confidence by accepting her unique qualities and understand how they can work for her, not against her.

– Discover who God says she is, in His eyes, and how He can help her.

– Discuss the tough stuff she’s going through as she changes physically, emotionally, relationally and spiritually.

– Learn how God’s words can help her become brave and beautiful.

Soaking young girls’ hearts in the truth of God’s Word can make all the difference! Think for a moment of a girl you know who needs to gain Christ Confidence and discover who God says she is.

Will you help her get there by gifting her a copy of Brave Beauty?

For decades, I was horrifically sexually, physically, verbally and in just about every way psychologically tortured and violated by father, step-father, mother, and other “caregivers. Am in therapy now, just complete 16 grueling E.M.D.R. sessions.

Soon after I complete trauma timeline (extensive and exhaustive), I will then child/adult and adult/child role-play (Tian Dayton, Ph.D. techniques- youtube) with my therapist dr. This will be in order to heal my child within (my precious innocent little girl self who never got the chance to grow up).I’ve been in therapy now for over three decades, whew! And only after E.M.D.R. have I been able to see any healing progress and psychological growth. Currently, I am questioning my faith and up popped up in my email server your post of Ephesians 4:14. Thank you and so timely. I needed this scripture.

May I please have a copy of your book for my little girl within me? I know this may sound self-centered or maybe even narcissistic. However, let me assure you that my trauama is real, I’m out of denial, and I am the living proof!. Thank you for your consideration. Jade Ford.

    1. Lynn Cowell says:

Jade, thank you so much for being vulnerable and sharing your story! When I was writing Brave Beauty, I was definitely thinking of the little girl in us all. There is a girl there, who was brave when she was little and for many, that bravery was stolen from us.

I am so proud of you for doing the courageous thing of going through the hard work of healing. I know that the Holy Spirit will do His supernatural work of healing in you as you partner with Him and do your part.

Father, heal Jada fully and completely. Restore to her what was stolen by the enemy and may her story of Your healing give others the courage and bravery to seek Your healing too! Amen

  2. I have so many young girls I would give a copy to, but I would start with two sisters, Grace and Anna Kate : )

I would gift this book to my 2 daughters. I want them to be courageous, young ladies that shine with beauty from the inside out. I have been looking for a series/book to study and coach into being the women God wants and desires them to be instead of what the world is showing them to be.

  13. I would like to gift a copy of this book to my daughter, Gabrielle Abiuso. Today is her 17th birthday and she has struggled with her body image for most of her life. She doesn’t believe me when I tell her what a HUGE impact social media has on her self image, or at least she acts like she doesn’t. We moved a couple of years ago and she has struggled to make friends her age in our new location, which has only compounded the issue. Even if she doesn’t get the book, please join me in praying for her. Thank you!

  32. I have not had to deal with childhood trauma but my granddaughter has had a short 9 years of childhood a child should never have….watching her parents destroy their lives with drug/alcohol addiction….tearing the family apart…siblings in different homes. Emma Lilje, my granddaughter. Congratulations on Release Day!

  39. Marilyn Dauer says:

I would love to give this to my granddaughter, Evey, who just turned eight. She is a voracious reader, however, her book choices concern me. She is interested in books of magic and wickedness. Her mom, my daughter, is currently undergoing cancer treatment. I’m concerned that Evey will get lost in the midst of the turmoil at home and delve deeper into Satan’s trap. She needs something to catch her interest and turn it 180 degrees. I trust your book will do that.

  40. I would give the book to my daughter Lily…for when she is old enough for us to read it together. However, I have been social media free since February, which was a feat after being on it so long! I found it was getting me trapped in the comparison game and also I found myself getting irritated at people after the 2016 elections…from both sides. I look forward to some giveaways that don’t include social media in the future?!?! 🙂

  41. I would give this book to my daughter who struggles with GAD and depression at only 13. We need all the help we can find that speaks Gods word into her life.

I feel unworthy and unwanted. But i know God loves me and i pray everyday for his grace, love and wisdom. For myself, children and grandchildren. I have come to realize God is my father even though my parents have both abandoned me as an adult.

    1. Lynn Cowell says:

  52. I would love to give this book to my granddaughters. I have 6 them and 3 in the age group of 8-12.

  57. Hi Lynn. I’m so excited about your book release! If I win I will give this book to my 9-year-old daughter. We will study it together for evening devotions. If I don’t win, I still plan to buy a copy of the book. Sharing this post on FB and Twitter today!

  58. Pat Parker says:

Well, I know I won’t be in the running for a free copy, although I wish I could be so I could give this to my girl. I do not do social media (tried it once, short lived) because of the VERY STUFF you wrote on the PS 31 site today. And it’s funny I JUST sent an email to a friend of mine about how my only daughter child struggles to belong to a group. At youth group, she sat alone. Everyone has their circles and besties and hers were not there. she makes things to wear sometimes and has a very unique personality. And when I asked her about others maybe making fun of her, she said she doesn’t care what others think. So I know she has a good outlook, but still, she was very down that she’s alone alot. Then the next night we went to the library for a class and again, she was alone. When I came to pick her up, there she sat with one of the instructors helping her out. In the elevator she said, “Well, I guess I’m just a social outcast in this world.” and although she chuckled, I know it hurts her. She is SUCH a neat kid too. I wish others would give her a chance. I am glad we home school because in the co op we belong to, they accept her and LOVE her. She has lots of friends there. but in the “public world” it’s sometimes a little harder for her peers to include her. Adults just love her because of her attitude. she is who she is. And that’s that.

  59. Thank you for giving us this opportunity to wish you book.i would share this book with Alexandria

  60. Katie Rettig says:

  70. Audra Cherbonnier says:

I saw a young girl last night in a counseling session named Jennifer who is struggling with “being ugly”. She is actually really beautiful, but the world has whispered maybe even yelled those lies to her that she isn’t enough. I would love to use this book in our sessions to speak life into her soul of how her Abba Father has created her and made her beautiful!

    1. Lynn Cowell says:

Amen! ALL girls need this truth!

  74. I would love to give this book to my daughter so she can find her identity in Christ and be brave and courageous from within. I’d also read it myself because there’s a little girl inside me that needs to learn that Jesus loves me. I struggle with insecurity. I didn’t know Jesus when I was young, just began a relationship with Him 4 years ago. Thank you for writing this book

  75. I would love to give this book to my daughter Darcy. ❤️ Thank you!

  76. This concept is so very needed in this day and age! I would give the book to my sweet niece who seems to have the cards stacked against her.

  77. Last year God gave me a theme for a community wide event for girls 10-13 in Alaska. “2B Brave” is our theme this year. In the past 6 months it has become very evident that this is a “NOW’ word for these girls. I would love to give these books away at the event. If I had the money I would buy one for each girl. But, as you know this is a little challenging due to low budget.

Thank you for writing about this and listening to the voice of the Lord to speak into these girls. As women of God we need to be available to speak into their lives and help them “…so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.” 1 Tim. 6:18-19

  78. Cindy Page says:

My niece Samantha! She is 11.

  80. Stephanie Alexander says:

  81. Melanie Dudding says:

I would give this to my loving daughter, Brooke. She has just entered middle school and will be exposed to many areas of life that will require leaning on God and his word more frequently.

  82. I would give a copy to my 8yr old daughter. These exact principles are what I want to learn & apply to her life. She can be very timid & soft spoken, as I was. Having those characteristics open the door to being a follower & needing acceptance from the wrong type of people. I do not want the same to happen to her. I want to teach her that there is only one opinion of herself that truly matters. God’s.

  83. Gma Connie says:

As I read your Proverbs 31 devotional this morning, Lynn, my great-granddaughter, Aaryn Louise instantly came to mind. She (along with her 2 brothers) were abandoned by their drug addicted parents when they were quite young. Aaryn was only 3 yrs old at the time and will be turning 9 yrs old in a few months. She and her brothers have finally been adopted by their grandmother (I am their great grandmother) and have made a lot of progress with their abandonment scars. However, Aaryn, being the only girl, has confidence issues and would benefit GREATLY by your book. (And she just happens to LOVE reading!) I, too, remember how awkward those tween years were as a young girl. Thank you for having a heart to minister to “tween girls”, Lynn♥

    1. Lynn Cowell says:

Connie – I am so very glad this precious girls have those in her life to love on her! Jesus, heal all her wounds and may she one day she her scars as beautiful. Amen

  86. Paige Stovall says:

I would give a copy to my daughter, she is in that tween stage and gets lost in her emotions. I saw your book posted on my friend Kari’s Instagram. Kari and her husband lead an eGroup that I used to attend for blended families. Their family is inspiring, the love that they have for each other and for God as the leader of their family is amazing. Thank you for your devotion today and your books for young women.

    1. Lynn Cowell says:

Kari is my niece and I couldn’t agree with you more! The Barnes are an amazing family. Carley wrote several stories of being brave for the book too. 🙂

      1. Paige Stovall says:

  87. Love for my 9 year old girl coco to have this

  88. Cherl McPhearson says:

My little girl at only 6 years old is starting to already doubt how amazing she is in God’s eyes and calling herself awful names when she doesn’t do something perfect. It’s a struggle for us. We hate that she’s already feeling this way. I think this book would be good for her and myself and any teens I help mentor.

    1. Lynn Cowell says:

I am so sorry to hear that, Cheri! She is blessed to have a mom who can help her recognize these thoughts as ones to get rid of ASAP and replace with God’s truth of who she is!

  89. Dalette Newell says:

Thank you for sharing this. How often do we find ourselves chasing after the unreachable and unrealistic expectations found in magazines, on TV and social media when God has called us to rest in who He created us to be? I believe, at some point, every woman struggles with these very issues in one area of life or another.

I, personally, struggle with physical issues. I was diagnosed in 2007 with Addison’s Disease. The medicine used to treat this disease is a twice a day regimen of steroids which leads to weight gain and other issues. In addition, I must deal with a dark discoloration on various parts of my body which, to me, is unsightly. But, in the midst of my daily struggle, God reminds me that He made me in HIS image and I am exactly who He made me to be. I am good enough. I’m even better than good enough. I am a daughter of the Most High King.

I would love to share this book with my daughter so that she may share with my granddaughter, and that sweet Lydia Raine would confidently grow into the woman that God would have her become.

    1. Lynn Cowell says:

Thank you so much for sharing your struggles, Dalette, and how God is helping you to overcome!

  98. My only baby, Leila, is struggling so so much with her identity. Her father passed away in July and she began self-harming, her connection with Gof has faltered and counseling isn’t helping. I would love to be able to complete this study with her!

    1. Lynn Cowell says:

Shay, I am so very sorry. Your girl is going through so very much. Hold her close. You are the closet thing she has to Jesus right now. I know she will see His love through your’s. Hang in there!

  99. Sherna Swanepoel says:

  118. Yasmin Barron says:

I can’t wait to get this book and read it with my daughter.

  119. I would love to give this to my precious daughter Sarah. She is so into the popular and in things right now and is receptive when I share with her and teach her from the Word but she doesn’t have a heart or faith for the things of God. It worries me and I hope I can find a way with your book. She’s eight and a half now and if I can help her see the joy of having a relationship with Jesus and eventually help lead her to make the most important decision of giving her heart to Him. To me as a mother that would be the best thing I could do for her, if anything else, in the end that’s all that matters to me in the light of eternity.

    1. Also pray that I can stay patient with her and deal with her in love instead of irritation and anger. This is an issue I’m struggling with due to insecurity in my own life due to brokenness in my own childhood and its affecting our mother-daughter relationship. I want to be the best mom I can be to her and exemplify Jesus as much as possible. Please pray for healing for both our hearts and relationship.

  120. As I watch my sweet baby girl grow up I see the influence of social media and peer pressure becoming greater in her life. I am always telling her how beautiful she is inside and out and trying to help her discover her God-given talents and gifts. The more I can give her other resources to see her real beauty, the better. Thank you for this book of truth.

  125. I have already purchased 2 of your books for my daughters. We are spending a few minutes each night reading and discussing a chapter. They can write whatever they want in the book and I promised not to read it. Because they are 8 & 9yo I wanted to be able to help answer their questions. I am in a Girl Scout group and would love to share this book with the girls in the troop. September is our mother daughter meetings about caring for their bodies, it would be a great time to present them with the books. I love this book.

  135. mama posh says:

I am a contact person for moms in Prayer Rwanda and I i have various moms in my groups that would love this book but above all, I have an 8 year old daughter (Posh) who is also a devotion prefect at her school, everyday she comes back home telling me about boys who disrespect her. It is affecting her class performance and sometimes I feel like telling her to resign from her duty but I do not know the impact it would have in her life. Would she always let er go in harsh situations? This book would be her anchor.

    1. Lynn Cowell says:

      Hello friend,

Thank you so much for sharing! I am not sure what a devotion prefect is, exactly. I believe that our children can learn early in life how to hear and listen to the Holy Spirit. I would pray with your girl and ask the Holy Spirit to reveal to her if this duty is something He is calling her to. If He is, He will give her the wisdom and strength to carry on. If He is not, then the best situation may be for her to step down.

As parents, it is hard for us when things are hard on our kids. I shared our experience in this post: http://proverbs31.org/devotions/devo/when-a-bad-thing-and-a-good-thing-are-the-same-thing/
