Because you know…

Praying

If you are joining me here today through Proverbs 31 Ministries’ Encouragement for Today, I’m so glad you’ve stopped by!

I probably shouldn’t admit this, but there are a few passages in the Bible that I think are…well, weird. James 1:1 – 8 is one of those. James starts out:

“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds,”

Pure joy? Really, God?

Trials and joy…they just don’t seem to go together. Then comes the next line, “because you know”.

Because you know.

That’s when “count it all joy” starts to make sense. “Because you know” is where the power is. The power we need to get on the other side of these trials we get up to each and every day.

Because I know.

I know in Him I am more than a conquerer.     Romans 8:37

I know if I need wisdom, He’ll give it to me.     James 1:7

I know no matter what, He will never leave me or forsake me.  Hebrews 13:5

I know He hears me and will answer when I pray. Psalm 17:6

Because of what I know, no matter what my mind says and no matter how my heart aches, my God is faithful and will give me the strength I need.

And so, because I know, each day I read back to God the words He wrote. I guess you could call it praying. I just call it reminding.

Reminding God? No, there’s no need for that. He knows who He is.

Praying is simply reminding ME of who He is.

Today, I’m giving away a gift pack to remind one of you who God is.

Give away

* Kathi Lipp’s new book “Praying God’s Word for Your Life”

* A journal to record your reminders

* A soft fall scarf

To enter to win, just share in the comments below (go to www.LynnCowell.com if you are receiving this via email) one of your favorite “reminders”; how you remind yourself of who God is. If your day is busy, just say “I’m In”.

I won’t be able to stop in too often today, as I am traveling to speak at Hearts at Home in Rochester, Minnesota. I’ll be sharing two of my favorite messages, “Wise Women Raising Wiser Daughters” and “Filling Up to Pour Out”. If you’ll be there too, please stop by and say “hi”! I would love to meet you!

  1. There is comfort in reminding myself that He is with me. While circumstances may change, He does not. I also have a poem I wrote for a cookie exchange a couple of years back that just lists Truths about who He says I am and it is framed and hanging on my wall when I come downstairs. I love to hang Scripture art around my house so that the reminders are continually entering my mind.

    1. God has taken within this past year to a Bible Study on prayer. It was a reminder to me to put the character of God at the beginning of my prayers. I have found then when I get to my requests I see how small they are compared to how big God is. I trust Him. My dad just ended up in ICU at the hospital. God sent a cross on a floor for me to confirm He was there and had everything under control. Praise be to Him!

When I need to be reminded of who God is, I simply look out the nearest window. The beauty I see there settles it for me. I’m in.

    1. I’m in… LOVE that …God in Christ, Christ in me! I’m in for a life time and waiting to get IN Heaven! I, like so many of you are dealing with health issues. Learning to understand the “whys” of suffering, sickness defeat and death helps me praise God more. <3

  3. As I drive to work and back I listen to praise and worship music to remind me of who He is and who I belong to. I’m in.

Wow! Your devotion this morning was just what I needed. Thank you for sharing! I loved being reminded of who He is.

    1. Thank you for this devotion this morning!!!! This verse has become very real to me these past few weeks as I walk through a very difficult time in my marriage!! When I need reminded of who God is I study His Word! His Word is truth and powerful!! 🙂 I also “sing” along with my favorite worship songs!!!!!

  7. Victoria C says:

When my day is really stressful, I will stop what I am doing, and just be still and know that he is God, and he is in charge.

Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations; I will be exalted in the earth. (Psalm 46:10 NIV)

  8. Barb Metreyeoni says:

This is so timely for my life right now. Been praying most of the night about struggles I am going thru. Please count me in.

  10. I try to remember to take my focus off myself and the problems I am currently facing, and turn my focus toward Him. It is much easier to see how God is working, daily, all around me when I am looking up and seeking Him.

  11. I have really been struggling with letting my almost 15 year old do it herself. Thank you so much for the encouragement this morning to keep pushing myself to let her/make her do it. We both need to grow.
    I’m in.

  12. Thank you for the needed encouragement. My first visit to your site and I am bookmarking it:))

Beginning to learn to lean on Scripture to remind me of who He is.

  14. Michele G says:

I have recently been struggling with remembering that God is in control even during hard times. My husband has been out of work for 2 years now and I was starting to believe that he would never find employment. Nothing seemed to be working out. Then I kept running across the same message during my devotions each morning that God was in control and would take care of me. I started to just pray and give it over to Him. Yesterday my husband received a call for an interview and was hired on the spot! Praise God! It is just a reminder that if you place your trust in Him, you will be taken care of. Never allow yourself to believe that He is not in control. Thanks for the giveaway, please count me in!

    1. Lynn Cowell says:

      Thank you Jesus!!!!

  15. Thank you for sharing! I found you from Proverbs 31 and this had really hit home! I listen to a Christian radio station and that helps me focus back on who He is!

  16. The beautiful colorful fall leaves is always a reminder how amazing our God is!!! Only he could do something so magnificent!!!

  17. Lynn,
Thank you for your post. I am divorced over 38 years of marriage, so that being said I
never dreamed I would be walking this path in life “alone”. But I am ever learning I am
NOT alone. My heavenly Father is not only my Poppa but my husband as well He is with me 24/7.
With each challenge I need to keep my eyes looking up and gratitude being my attitude.
Life hands us hurdles that are so challenging at times that I question am I going to make
it this time? But then a whisper comes softly “Do you trust me Chris, do you really trust
Me? I am going to post you scriptures in visible spots as a reminder!

    1. Lynn Cowell says:

Lord, use your word to daily fill up Chris with your amazing and unconditional love!

  18. Martha Hatcher says:

Thanks for a great trip with you this morning. I started at P31 and then went to your blog, and from there to your five prayers for your children. I have sent them on to my girls to hopefully pray over their children.. What a delightful trip. I keep a journal at my computer to write down verses that I encounter through the devotion, then blogs, then emails. I Love how God sends me just the messages I need. I write a few sentences and close with prayer. I was touched by a phrase I read yesterday that gave me a different perspective: “Living in the expectation of God’s care.” “Thank You, LORD, for those who minister to us daily by sharing Your Word and prayers for our day. We ask for Your continued blessings on them as they tend their flock. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.”

  19. What a great devotional this morning. Starting my day with devotionals from Proverbs 31 is one way I am reminded of who God is and that he loves us. It has truly helped me focus my mind and heart and prepare for the chaotic day ahead with 3 young children. I have been amazed how so many mornings I feel the daily devotional was written specifically to speak to me. Thank you!

  20. Acts 20:24. – But none of these things shall move me, neither I count I my life dear unto myself, so that I may finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God”. God is always faithful!!

  21. Your devotional today was something my heart desperately needed! I am going through such a hard and painful season in my life that was a result of living for the approval and acceptance of others instead of my God. The devotionals I get daily in my emails from Proverbs 31 along with the blogs that accompany them is my reminder that God is with me and at work even now. I learn so much from women like yourself on how to fill my heart with God’s truth keeping it clear from the devil’s clutter. Staying in His word daily is what reminds me of who He is. I’m in.

  22. Leslie Moore says:

I see all of the beauty around me and it reminds of who God is and what he has provided for us. Thank you for the great giveaway!

  23. Thank you for reminding of some really good verses to hold on to. We all have trials. It’s knowing who He is that helps us get through them and makes us stronger in Him. I’m in.

  24. Having survived cancer twice, raising a son with cerebral palsy & having a husband with an anxiety disorder, I know a lot about trials! But I also know God is bigger & stronger than any of those things! Thanks for your devotional today to remind us. 🙂

    1. Donna, wow, what a warrior you are! You are so right…God is bigger and stronger than any of our trials.

  25. Starting my day in God’s Word reminds me of who He is and that He deserves first place in my life.

  26. I remember how much He loves me in thinking about all He’s done in my heart and mind. God freed me from believing lies about myself and showed me who I am in Him. There’s nothing more precious than realizing who I am in Christ. Now I’m free to love like He loves, experience joy, and serve others. Is it easy to live these things out? No, everyone is at different seasons in their life and past experiences and hurts weigh us down and keep us from even realizing that God IS the what and who we are each one aching for. I thank you God for Jesus on the cross. We all need you and you are enough. I’m all In.

  27. I am reminded often through nature around me , but not often enough do I thank Him for his Grace!

  28. I love watching the sunrise here in Africa each morning. It reminds me that He chose to give us the gift of another day.

    1. Lynn Cowell says:

I hope to see the sunrise from Africa one day, Laurie! I can only imagine the beauty!

  29. Trials! Ugggg! I awoke this morning with the words in my mind rushing in. This time they were reminding me of God’s character and desires instead of causing worry and anxiety. The words reminded me that God promises to restore, renew, revive; Jesus makes all things new. The reality is that renewal does not happen without pain and suffering. As I reflect on past trials can remember the difficulties but oh how I was blessed to come to know God in powerful ways. Thank you God for not leaving us in our pain and suffering and strengthening us, building us up! Still tough but I have hope in the Lord who is faithful to bring me through any trial I face. Thank you Lynn for your devotion today that reminded me who I need to stay focused on.

  30. Amy Amoss says:

Thank you so much for your post. God’s timing is perfect. I really needed to be reminded that’s its only in the hotest fires silver is refined! I too only listen to Christian music and it has a constant reminder of who I am and who HE is! I am a daughter of the ONE TRUE KING! I’m in.

  31. Going away this weekend wiith fiance re-connect. I really want to start studying Gods Word with him but it never happens.Pray That we will come together through the Word of God and live out his word. This is very important to me and thus the weekend, bible, mountains, and several blogs from P31 Women of God.Oh Im in!

  32. Elaine Segstro says:

Thank you for the reminder of how great, loving, and wise our God is. Indeed a model of parenting. I can SO relate to wanting to help out my kids, when it’s better for them to struggle. I am so blessed by Proverbs 31 devotions. I am still a “work in progress” and when I think I’VE got it “all together”, He reminds me that I truly do need Him in my life, and I DO want Him in my life.

  33. This is exactly what I needed to be reminded of today. Thank you!

  34. Your post was the reminder today; it seems God puts words right in front of where I am to speak to my every need. My kids are older; but I still want to “fix”. It’s so hard to see them struggle so much, but I am trying to mirror how to hold on to God through the trials – run to God, not to mom.

  35. Wow… great word. I first started out with an email from my father from this very same passage. Perseverance is what I am needing right now as I am struggling with a son. I am feeling broken, beaten and defeated… but know that its only through the trials that we grow stronger and deeper!

  36. Lynn,
I loved your devo and this post!! God has been speaking much of this to me – Eph. 5:1, the need for reminders. A couple of weeks ago He spoke through my 4 year old boys new favorite phrase, “I know!!” I was frustrated with him “knowing” EVERYTHING, but not doing much with his knowledge until God showed me I do the same thing…He gave me a list of all the things I know, similar to the ones you shared above. I know all these Truths about God, but do I live like I do? Guess I needed reminding this AM!!!

Rochester isn’t even an hour from us….so wish I was going, but God has not brought those plans together. If things change I’ll be sure to stop by!! Praying for you, your message and all the listening ears!!

    1. Lynn Cowell says:

I know some day we will meet friend! I would love that 🙂

      Be blessed!

  37. Jennifer wright says:

I’m in! Needed this reminder this am as I struggle with returning to work full time as my husband is unemployed. Consider it great joy…. He is molding and shaping me into His image!

  38. Lynn, your blog this morning was heaping on Jesus for me! God has me covered! I don’t need to be anxious about what others say. Isaiah 41:10 God will uphold me. Romans 8:31 If God is for me, who can be against me. I will continue to praise Him, no matter what!
Praying for you this weekend. You will be a blessing!
    Love and Prayers,
    Beth

    1. Lynn Cowell says:

His finger prints all all over your life, Beth! Keep reaching out and touching others with His hands!

Thank you for the prayers! I want to pour God’s encouragement and empowerment into the women here at Hearts at Home this morning!

  39. Crystal Hall says:

When im feeling disconnected and have a blank stare I need time in nature to remind myself that HE IS RIGHT THERE, like his Word says. A favorite spot for me is laying on the beach where its all pouring over me, like the warmth on my skin and the sound of the waves sink right thru my being and His Love is clearly felt. Many times tears roll off my face and everything opens back up to Him and my faith becomes clear and solid again. I Love to FEEL him close to me to remind me that the rest of it is just white noise and He will turn ir around for me if I hold his hand.

  40. Valerie Smith says:

Lynn, I’m here from Encouragement Today. This is so what I needed. God is good and He gives us what we need when we need it. He SEES ME. And,all morning He has been speaking to me. I am going through what I at first saw as a trial, but as the Holy Spirit would have it,I no longer am. I’m choosing to see this as an adventure, full of new opportunities, new experiences, and even more than I could imagine. My Abba Father has been showing me all week that HE’S GOT THIS. And all I need to do is TRUST HIM. Thank you for your encouraging words and may God bless you as you bless others!!

    1. Valerie Smith says:

Oh,yes, and the most important part. For the first week after finding out about this trial,I cried, prayed, and stressed out. Now,after my talk with Jesus, the Holy Spirit, and Abba Father: I was able to truly THANK GOD for this situration!! Hallelujah!!

      1. Valerie Smith says:

        sorry,situation.

  41. Danielle Ware says:

    Great message today 🙂
Recently I heard a teaching on God and His blessing, and how sometimes the blessing is harder.
Our daughter is struggling but we know we must keep our eyes on Him & not the circumstances.
I know He will be faithful to keep His promises, His love never fails.
    God bless you today.

  42. Reading the Word, looking at creation and listening to praise music helps me to refocus on God. Sometimes it is a word from a caring friend that will remind me how much God cares for me.

  43. Tracy McC. says:

    Psalm 121; psalm 62:8; Hebrews 4:14-16
Knowing that my help comes from Him, that I can trust Him at all times, and that I can go boldly before His Throne of Grace to ask for help and mercy and receive it in times of need

  44. Tish McNeill says:

I remind myself each day of Philippians 4:13! When I am having my best day or my worse day, or somewhere in between, I know that “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me”!

I also remind myself daily that all things are possible with God!

Thank you so much for your blogs, they are such an inspiration. I have 2 daughters(16 & 11), and I have more than one time printed the devotions you send via email and had devotion time with my girls at bedtime!

I pray God Blesses you from on high for the work you are doing for Him!

Pray for safe travels this weekend!

    1. Lynn Cowell says:

Thank you so much for investing in your girls, Tish! I love to see your familiar name.

If you have Facebook, would you consider joining our Behind-the-Scene Team for women who invest in girls. We’d love to have you! (EVERY ONE WHO LOVES TEEN GIRLS IS WELCOME!)

  45. I really needed your devotional and blog today!!!!!! Yesterday I found myself in tears at work after being yelled at by a woman who told me that I obviously didn’t know who she was and continued to be as rude as possible because I would not give her information on a client without written consent. My supervisor called her to clear things up and guess what she told my supervisor that I was rude to her. I couldn’t stop the tears from coming for nearly 90 minutes. A friend pointed out that I was tired from the many trials that I am facing–son deployed, daughter living with a young man and not speaking to me, daughter-in-law and grandchildren concerns, injured ankle, and more. I know that God is with me in the midst of these trials and that He will never leave me. Romans 8:28 is a verse that I hold on to for dear life at times like this. I am counting this all joy because as you pointed out there is so much that I Know about my God.

    1. Lynn Cowell says:

Lora, so been there! Give yourself, grace, my friend, just like Jesus gives to you! Rest and think on his gentleness to you. Hosea 11:4 says He stoops to us. He is gentle and tender of heart (Matthew 11:28 -) Find rest for your soul!

  46. I’m in! I need reminding too. So thankful for His Holy Presence which reminds me of His love, grace, compassion, and that He will never leave me alone. 🙂

  47. Reading devotionals in the morning and listening to praise music to and from work helps me to focus on God. There are times during the day that I wander off the path, but each and every morning I get to re-center myself and try to lean more on God and less on myself. I’m in.

  48. Lynn, this is so what I needed today actually I needed it all week. I will look at my struggles in a different way now. Thanks for the blessing and for reminded me that God is not finished with me yet. I’m still growing and learning everyday. This is why I love Proverbs 31 and all that are a part of it. I love all that is shared with me each day. “I’m in”

  49. I have a packet of index cards on which are written some special & meaningful scripture verses. I pull those out and meditate about those. Praise music also helps too. Thank you!

  50. I just say the name Jesus. There is power in his name and sometimes I don’t know what else to a say. I ask my young kids to use it too when they feel bad and don’t know how to pray.

  51. Many times I have to force myself to get “alone” with God and read his word, go for a walk, or pray in a private place to REMIND ME that God is in control and he has covered me with his love!!! Thank you for sharing this devotion!

  52. Because I know that He is able to do far more abundantly above all that we ask or think (Ephesians 3:20) and because I know that although my flesh and my heart may fail but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever (Psalm 73:26)
Praise the Lord for the precious promises found in His Word! <3

    1. Thanks for the reminder!

  53. I’m grateful for the wisdom and encouragement I receive through Proverbs 31 and the many anointed blog writers! So encouraging to this mom who is just trying to live out my love and devotion to Jesus!

  54. I am reminded of Him when I look around at all of my blessings He has given me. It’s always so easy to see the wrong and bad in life, but when I really look around, I am reminded that there is far better that’s good and great…all because of Him.

  55. Hopping over from Proverbs 31 today, and I definitely needed to hear this today! I have a baby and a toddler and remembering that God is my Father in my tough parenting moments helps me keep things in perspective and focus on how good He always is. Thanks!

    1. Lynn Cowell says:

Ameila, I know you are physically tired friend! Hang in there! This time will go so fast…before you know it you’ll be me with your baby having one year left of high school! Hug them tight and hug them often!

  56. Thanks so much for this. I’m raising a child with ADHD and ODD. Through all the trials we face, I try to remind myself daily that God is still on the throne. I pray to him for wisdom and help raising this child who God chose me to be his mom. I’M IN!

  57. I am reminded of who God is and how mighty He is when I view the ocean. We live near the Pacific Ocean, when I sit and just look at how big “my little area” of ocean is, I am reminded how big God is and what beauty he has created for us on earth.

  58. I like to read in the Bible the closing scenes of Christ’s life here on this earth – His crucifixion and resurrection – and I reminded that He is a God of love who gave His life for me that I may have an abundant life in Him. So, no matter what trials I face, I know God loves me and He is for me. His life and death for me is all the evidence I need. I also like to get with a friend or loved one and share how God is working in each of our lives. Just listening to how God is blessing my friends and loved ones reminds me over and over how good God is!

  59. I like this devotion. It reminds me that God is at work whether we see Him or not!. And my favorite scripture concerning this is: 2nd Timothy 1:12.; I know the ONE in whom I trust , and I am sure that HE is able to keep what I have committed unto to HIM until the day of HIS return. God Bless!

  60. I have some pictures that represent Gods amazing intimacy and divine guidance and I look at them and think about how faithful He is.

  61. DeeDee Sigler says:

I’m reminded in the praise music I listen to every day and prayer. I’m in.

  62. Kathy Williams says:

In our journey, my husband and I, through his esophageal cancer, I need constant reminders! It’s so difficult to find the joy. My favorite reminder is I Thessalonians 5:16-18. “Rejoice always; pray without ceasing; in everything give thanks; this is God’s will for you.” Pray without ceasing!

  63. I’m in! I remind myself of who God is by reading His word, listening to praise music, counting the blessings He has given me, and reflecting on previous trials He has brought me through.

  64. Just found your website this morning! It was full of the words and encouragement I was in need of. I’m in!

  65. This was exactly what i needed to hear today! I am so glad that God uses other people to help remind us of who He is!

  66. LaKenya Perry says:

I’m In ! Thanks so much for this timely and encouraging word, it truly blessed me! It was what I needed to help me to hang in there and keep striving. At times life is hard, but God is always good!

  67. I believe He reminds me a lot more, just last night I opened my Bible and started reading from James. Today I visited this website and Lynn Cowell starts by talking about James. I’m experiencing difficulties in my life right now, but I believe that God has a purpose for everything that happens to us, to make us stronger and more faithful, because He loves me, and a verse keeps popping in my head for I know the plans I have for you 🙂

    1. Lynn Cowell says:

Preach it, Reina! He always has our best for us!

  68. What a great way to remind ourselves of His amazing love for us! Love it! Thank you!

  69. Angie Boucher says:

I just need to look at Pikes Peaks to know where my help comes from. Ps.121. Looking at Pikes Peak reminds me that God is bigger than my problems.

  70. Lynn, I loved your blog this morning. In fact I love ALL your blogs and devotionals. They’re truly inspirational. Jesus has been doing great things in my life. He’s been answering my prayers and gotten me out of some really rough spots. I wouldn’t know what I’d do without Him. I say a great big THANK YOU Lynn for your blogs and devotionals they’re also a blessing. May God continue to richly bless you and your family this holiday season. Merry Christmas! Oh one more thing, I’m in!

    In Him,
    Beth

    1. Lynn Cowell says:

Wow Beth! Thank you so much for your words! Jesus is so good to use each one of us to share His encouragement and joy with those around us…my “around us” just happens to be on the internet!

  71. Beth Turner says:

I love the verse..” BE still and know” normally in my weakest moments is when I have had evry littel time to spend just relaxing in HIS Prescence and need that reminder! Thank you for teh giveaway.

  72. One of my favorite reminders is being able to receive my Proverbs 31 Ministries before I even get out of bed. It is the first thing I look at each morning. It is truly a blessed way to start my day. I live in Rochester, MN and will try to stop by to meet you tonight! Thank you for your words of Truth.

    1. Lynn Cowell says:

Shelly – wow! I would LOVE to meet you tonight! Sitting in the Minneapolis airport now, enjoying all these precious words!

  73. Melanie mckinley says:

Thank you for this. I struggle with this still. I am reminded through many things. I especially enjoy music and time spent in God’s word. My aunt was recently diagnosed with an aggressive breast cancer and has chosen no treatment. I need His sweet reminder now more than ever.

  74. I remind myself of who God is by looking at the night sky and gazing at the stars, knowing that this world is only a tiny portion of how great He is. I feel especially close to Him during those times.

  75. Kember Langner says:

I remind myself that there is immense power in my words and as I praise The Lord for my blessings I am reminded that my life has purpose and my words become my actions and before long my steps are lighter. Thank you for your blog and your messages through proverbs 31 – I have two young girls that I’m constantly struggling with the need to shelter a and protect them vs. the understanding that sometimes they need to be given the gift of independence and growth. I so appreciate your wisdom! I’m in!

    1. Lynn Cowell says:

Kember, I am so glad that the Lord provides encouragement and His wisdom to you through the Proverbs 31 Ministries! You encourage me! Isn’t it cool how God uses all of us in His Body!

  76. I love your devotions!! They always come at the right time that I needed to hear them! I love to listen to Christian radio and remind myself who is always in control.

  77. Thank you for “reminding” me today of Jesus’ unfailing love!

  78. Cindy Bracey says:

God always knows what I need. Seems whatever I am struggling with that day He sends encouragement through a blog or Proverbs 31.

  79. A great reminder for me is Jeremiah 29:11. Even when I think that I know how to take care of all of the details of my life, God gently reminds me that He controls all the details. I am simply to trust and wait on Him.

  80. I remind myself by continually staying in God’s presence. Through His word, through Christian music and through prayer.

  81. I needed the reminders from your blog post and devotion. So much struggle and sadness lately. Yet God has reminded me that He is actively working on my behalf through answered prayer. Also, when I need a reminder that He is there amidst the trials I quote verses to myself one is I Peter 5:8 I cast all my cares on Him for He cares for you. Singing the cares chorus also is a good reminder. Blessings on your speaking engagement (s).

  82. Elisabeth says:

Thank you for your encouragement for raising wiser daughters and your obedience to write His Revolutionary Love. The LORD has used your book to speak to our teenage daughter that suffers from depression. The following verse is beside my computer on my desk, “And, I am convinced and sure of this very thing, that HE who began a good work in you will continue until the day of JESUS CHRIST, developing and perfecting and bringing it to full completion in you.” Philippians 1:6 It sits next to a vintage sign HOPE. Thanks for sharing HOPE with so many of us striving to be wise women raising wiser daughters.

    1. Lynn Cowell says:

Thank you so very much for your encouragement, Elisabeth! I just finished writing a new book last week and the words from moms and girls on how “His Revolutionary Love” and “Devotions for a Revolutionary Year” has impacted their girls was my fuel! I appreciate you!

  83. I’m reminded of who God is every time I look out the window or take a walk. The different colors on display, especially this time of year, remind me of what an awesome Creator He is and that He loves me so much that He created beauty for me to enjoy in nature. I simply need to look, and He is revealed all around me.

  84. Thank you so much for all you in keeping his Word available for all to seek. I work with a couple of ladies who as a team we continue to pray for one another. When one of us is faces with trials, the other two will remind us of Gods word to focus on for the trials at hand. We find strength in partnering to together for Christ. It is so wonderful working with these Sisters in Christ.

  85. Jane Wood says:

    Lynn:

I loved how you broke down the verse and walked us through each part with other verses. I do several things to remind me of who God is.
    1. I have a time every morning with my husband where we read a portion of the OT and the NT, do a daily devotional and pray together
    2. I do the daily Proverbs 31 devo via email
    3. I journal

Between these things, I find “if” I listen, I hear HIM!

    Blessings on your weekend.

    1. Lynn Cowell says:

      Jane,

Thank you so much for sharing how you fill up your heart all day long!

  86. James 1:1-8 has been consistently repeated since early October now. Seven years ago I had to state what I was thankful for and I said, “I’m thankful for trials and tribulations because they made me who I am today”. Now that I’m facing something now, I’m holding onto that statement while trying to figure out exactly what I am to learn through this trial. No, it doesn’t feel good. Yes, I’d rather leave it all behind. BUT God….God has a bigger plan and purpose and I shall mature through this process. I’m constantly reminded of my dependence on Him and His mighty will.

  87. Carly McHenry says:

Thank you for the encouragement! I’m in!!

  88. Needed to be reminded of this. “I’m in”

  89. Brandi Clifford says:

When I need reminding I turn on K-Love and listen to the music

  90. Stacy Long says:

Ahhh, thank you for sharing God’s word with us today. You reminding us who God is reminds me who we are: children of the King. It’s so nice to remember, despite our own feelings of unworthiness, that we are Princesses and Princes not because of what WE have done but it is our inheritance because of who HE is and what HE has done for us. Zephaniah 3 gives that beautiful picture of God singing over us and delighting in us.

  91. Thank you so much for this great reminder of who God is, this devotion was just what I needed to hear.
I find listening to Christian music is a good reminder of who God is and how much he loves me!

  92. All I have to do when I start forgetting who and how powerful God is, is remember all the ways He’s worked in my life in the past 🙂

  93. I made scripture tags with my favorite verses that hold promises and comfort and sometimes the push I need to keep going and trying. I hang one each day by the kitchen sink.

  94. I pause, take a deep breath, and take a look around at all the good gifts around that I have and remember all that God has brought me through. A little praise music in background never hurts either.

  95. I really needed this reminder this morning…and that is one of the ways I keep immersed in God’s promises. Through reading the Bible every morning, reading various devotionals, listening to Christian music. When I feel especially under fire, I go to my journal where I have recorded various verses…promises…that remind me whose I am.

  96. Melissa Haselby says:

My favorite reminder is the peace you feel after leaving it all at God’s feet. I AM IN! 🙂 Thanks for this amazing email and the contest! 🙂

  97. I so need to know the right verses to pray to stay strong in Him. Life can be messy and hard and it is way too easy for me to forget Who is my strength and provider. Thank you for timely words.

    1. Lynn Cowell says:

      Hi Rebecca,

I love Galatians 6:9 “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”

Psalm 46:1 “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.”

  98. I say OUTLOUD even when I am with friends;
I AM A JESUS GIRL!! i AM DAUGHTER OF THE KING OF KINGS & SO THAT MAKES ME A PRINCESS.

If My Heavenly Daddy had a Refidgerator~ My picture would be on it!

    He thinks about me ALL DAY LONG;

I Know my worth & Value; its sitting at the right Hand of God anticipating His return so we can be home together AGAIN!

These quotes I share with myeself; my 16 year old daughter & all her friends & our youth-group girls. So they know how much they are loved & what their worth is.. Visuals are my specialty!

    1. Lynn Cowell says:

Miranda – thank you so much for investing in your daughter and her youth group! You are an answer to my prayers. Would you do me a favor? Would you please join our Behind-the-Scenes for women who invest in their daughters and young women! Find us on Facebook!

  99. I have to be honest, sometimes it is hard for me. I am a logic person since birth. I have always been one of those people who if I can’t feel it, see it, smell and taste it must not be so. At times I look outside and wonder over the creation God has made. I wonder where He is at times in my life, and why certain things happen even to good people. I know all about freewill and all. I get that our choices have consequences. But what about those times when you are trying to live a life for God and it seems you always get the raw deal?

Not trying to be pessimistic. just trying to figure out life at times. Thanks for this blog post today. .

    1. Lynn Cowell says:

Amy, God gets your logic heart…He made it! I think that is why He calls it the gift of faith. When we can set aside what our senses, to honor Him and in a blind act of obedience, He will honor that. In fact, I think when we believe when every part of us is screaming not to, that is when we bless Him most! He doesn’t expect you to check out your brain; He gave you the mind you have to think. He also gave you a heart and emotions; He wants to speak to the whole of you!

  100. Everyday Lord remind me I am a child, a daughter of the ONE TRUE KING. Jesus remind me daily I belong to you. Everyday Lord let me be reminded to REFLECT YOU in the very lost and dark world so others may know you Father.

  101. Nancy Silvers says:

Thank you Lynn! I’m glad that I am not the only one that sometimes says “Say What?” to some of the scriptures I read (before I take them in context). I love Phil 4:13 “I can do ALL things through Christ who gives me strengthe” Being disabled and physically challenged I love this verse because it reminds me that if God calls me, in this broken body, HE will give me the strength to do what he calls me to do.
Praying for safe travels and a blessed conference!

    1. Lynn Cowell says:

Nancy – I love that you have allowed Jesus to make you better not bitter! So beautiful! Thank you for the prayers! With all this praying, I can’t wait to see what God is going to do!

  102. First thing that came to my mind that reminds me who he is , is the fact I have breath, that I get to open my eyes every morning because I’m alive, all the simple things in life that I take for granted that are not so simple for others, looking into his word reminds me of him, the power of his Holy Spirit reminds of him, my faith reminds me of him, in the books of acts it says he gives man everything , and he has especially his son Jesus, that was his everything and that is what I know needs to reminds me most of him, because all his love was him and in him for me . He held nothing back . So thank you for letting me reflect on that today and obviously my list can go on and on about grace, mercy ,forgiveness etc.etc. but it would not be if it was not for Jesus (for Calvary) so when it comes down to it his the greatest reminder of God to me .

  103. Jenny Lewis says:

I stop, take a breath and look around at all the wonders God has made. If He can take care of the little sparrow amongst all of creation then He can take care of me.

  104. I’m in. I love to worship through music.

  105. I have several sticky notes listing Bible Passages about God’s promises to us. Romans 8:28 is always my favorite!
Thanks so much for all of your encouragement!

  106. Entrice Rowe says:

I meditate on the fact that God has specific plans for me. The scripture that comes to mind for me is Jer 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

    I need this reminder daily!

  107. Thank you for the reminder .I started to be anxious this morning over some situations…

    1. Lynn Cowell says:

My favorite anxiety passage that I often refer to and quote to my baby girl is Philippians 4:4 – 7 “4 Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! 5 Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. 6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

  108. Jeremiah 29:11 is a great reminder!

  109. Dori Sheese says:

God is in the little things…beautiful crisp mornings, and late fall evenings. He is in our church – in the smiles, the warmth, the spirit that envelops us during service each week. Thank you God!

  110. Thank you for today’s Proverbs 31 devotion on an uncomfortable topic. Often I don’t want to see my small daily irritations as tools God is using to refine me, but that is exactly what He is doing. By highlighting this scripture, you’ve opened my eyes to see God’s hand at work in my today. May God’s blessings be evident to you today!

    1. Lynn Cowell says:

Thanks Ellen! I’ll take those blessings…flying to Rochester, Minnesota to invest in precious mothers at Hearts at Home. ALWAYS need God’s truth and wisdom!

  111. What a great reminder this morning! I love the verses you shared too. My go-to verse during hard times is Romans 8:28: And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who[a] have been called according to his purpose.

    1. Lynn Cowell says:

Jennifer – what a great mainstay and easy to remember too!

  112. Being the control freak that I am, it’s very hard for me to lay my trials at God’s feet. And not just that, but to look at my trials as a growth opportunity and a blessing. God has blessed me with being a step parent, which at times, if I’m being honest, feel more like a curse because as a step, I can only give my advice in situations, when really I want is to … yep, you got it, control the situation. While I view trails as a way to grow closer to my Father, my prayers are usually “Alright, I see what you are doing, I know it’s all in your hands, when can it be over …” when I really should be praying “Father, thank you! Guide me & strengthen me through this trial.” Thank you for this amazing reminder today.

  113. Heather P says:

Seeing God in nature is wonderful! Hearing the gentle reminders in my head of how to act or respond is also evidence.

  114. Such a wonderful post! Thank you

  115. Going through a battle right now. I Keep holding on to the words in Ephesians 6:12 (I KNOW that)
“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
(I also KNOW) from his words in Proverbs 3:5-6 that I must, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding; 6 in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”
Thank you for reminding me to hold on to the things “I know” while going through this battle.

  116. I need to be reminded of who God is…I am going through severe health problems, and get very discouraged. Thank you for your words.

  117. I’m going through severe health problems and need to hear these words. Thank you.

  118. Patricia Davey says:

I just look around my surroundings, and think about where I was a few months ago and where I am now and Know that its all about God and Yes Struggles and Trials and Know that He is the one that got me through those Trials and He will get me through these I just have to Trust , Believe in all I do

  119. I’m in…my family needs prayers, please…going through tremendous storm right now…trying to lean on Jesus’s promises…

  120. Megan Reddy says:

Psalm 46:1 “God is MY refuge and MY strength, a very present help in trouble.” Just one of very many reminders of who God is.

  121. 1st thing that came to my mind is the fact I have breath ,that I’m alive ,all the simple things that are not so simple for others. That I take for granted at times. His word reminds me of him, the power of the Holy Spirit reminds of him, my faith reminds me of him, acts 17:25 he needs nothing from us but gives us everything. He gave us Jesus his everything . I know this is what needs to remind me most of him,all his love was him & in him 4 me ,nothing held back, thank u 4 letting me reflect on that today, my list can go on & on but would not be ,if not 4 jesus (Calvary) so he is the greatest reminder 4 me.

  122. I wear a bracelet that reminds me: Phil 4:13 – I can do ALL THINGS through Christ who strengthens me

and my two favorite verses are Rom 8:28 and Jer 29:11 that speak of God’s promises to me that all things will work out according to his purpose and plan for my life….I have hope because of Christ…..and I usually follow those up with a good dose of Gal 6:9 – – DON’T GIVE UP!!!!

    🙂

  123. I like to look at my hands to remind me that i can only do so much – what is right in front of me and i need to give all other things to God – since he is ultimately in charge! 🙂 Thanks for this post today!

  124. I go back and read past journal entries of His faithfulness.

  125. I open his word and remind myself of the Great God I serve!!!

  126. Jennifer Kuperus says:

Struggle is evident in life, and Jesus helps us get through it. Your passage today has helped me open my eyes, mind, and heart. With our daily struggles, we are reminded to turn to Him and praise him for what he has given us. As newly weds- my husband and I have found struggles that we have over come and pray on to help us, He helps us. As my husband told me yesterday, do not worry, do not be anxious as he is with us.

  127. I’m reminded of Gods faithfulness and goodness when I look
at my children’s smiling faces. He’s been so good to give me 4
beautiful kids and that is enough ifs reminder for me of how
awesome He is! I’m in !

  128. Suzanne-Jean Malenga says:

I know that God is my refuge and strength, a very present help in time of need. I know he is ever present all the time and even when things seem to say that he is gone, I know he is right there with me.

  129. Christian music reminds me of the awesome God working in my life!!!

  130. Thank you for sharing this today. I love being reminded who God is and my role in life.

    My God Bless You!

  131. One of my favorite songs is “Because He lives” I can face tomorrow! “Because I know”, reminded me of that song. What a song to have in my heart today! Thank-you

  132. Debbie Hollingsworth says:

Sitting quietly in God’s presence is one of my best ways, feeling His peace and assurance that He is aware of my circumstance. This let’s me know He is God of all, and that same God calls me His own.

  133. The way I have been reminded of who God is is through music.
Lately, I would get in my car and turn on the radio but not to a Christian radio station. For some reason that made me feel farther away from God. Then I Realized that because of what I was letting myself hear on the radio my day would be filled with ungodly thoughts. But now I try to keep my radio on the Family life radio station. And when I am falling asleep i let my phone play on random Kim Walker songs so my mind is listening to healthier songs.
    I’m in.

  134. I listen to a Christian radio station on Pandora. That helps me a lot!

  135. Kathy Lundberg says:

Recently we received news that my husband’s pay structure is being completely revamped and not to our advantage. God is using this time as a reset button to remind each of us that God is truly sufficient and what really is important in life. As our pastor says, when we are in God’s Word in a regular basis and focusing our thoughts on who He really is, it’s a way of reviewing, rehearsing, remembering and reminding ourselves of God’s greatness. The enemy would have us believe otherwise.

Listening to solid Christian music that goes to the heart of the matter is another way for me to review and rehearse God’s faithfulness and who He is.

  136. My husband and I own our own business which we have been running for the past 10 1/2 years. What He has shown us over the years has been one solid reminder on a daily basis “HAVE FAITH”!!! We basically have no control over our circumstances and we must learn to trust in HIM the giver of life when our circumstances turn “sour”. Why, why, why do I have such a hard time with this??? No problems when things are going “well” right???? Jesus?????? I need you to fill my heart and head once again with your precious LOVE and PEACE!!!! I can’t see past my present circumstance………please help me to do that!!! You are my ever present savior and I need you Jesus….I need you Jesus….I need you Jesus!!!!

  137. As I have homeschooled my children the past 11 years, I have had the blessing of daily Bible study, prayer and devotions with them. We determined that if there was only one thing we could accomplish each day it would be our “Bible time”. As I am now in my final year of homeschool, I have given much thought to what would be my daily reminder and I have decided that our final project will be to paint scripture verses in each room of the house. I am thankful though, that even if I forget, God is always faithful to remind me who He is!

  138. I’m here from Encouragement for Today. Appreciated both the devotional and this blog post. Sometimes it’s hard to let our kiddos learn lessons, but (as the song says) we’ve given them roots; we have to let them find their wings. Praise God that He is faithful to hide us under His wings!

  139. Going through a difficult time at my job I am reminding myself through daily devotions, Christian music, bible reading and what I have experienced in the past with God as my Leader. He has shown Himself to be faithful, the Great Provider & Sustainer, and I can trust Him with my life’s needs and desires. Now that doesn’t mean I don’t still wrestle with the thoughts and difficult encounters in my current situation but I take them to Him for wisdom, healing and comfort.

  140. Kyle-Lynn says:

    I’m in!!

There are so many reminders honestly, but one that usually hits me in the deep parts of my heart is worship music. I listen to Christian radio every day either while driving or working and it seems like daily, God allows a certain message to really stand out to me and remind me He is present. Whether it’s one lyric or a whole song or a “theme” of songs that seems to be on that day. God is so good, and I find it incredibly romantic the way He speaks our love languages individually to all. Thank you for your blog Lynn, I truly enjoy the messages you place on our hearts every week!

  141. I am reminded of who God is by stopping in my tracks and focusing on Him. The beauty of His earth. Worship music. My children’s laughter. just to name a few =) I also read His word every morning, I made it a priority. I’ve been encouraged by you and many other beautiful sister’s of Christ !!! Growing in Christ daily !!! :-)) I’m in !!! God bless all !!!

  142. I’m reminded of who God is when I see the details in nature like rose petals or birds.

  143. Im in!! Turning my heart to the Lord each and every morning, with a desperate desire to have Him intimately involved in every aspect of my life….His Holy Spirit keeps me aware of my need and how He IS here…through the scripture I read, throught the still small voice, through another person who shows acts of kindness and love, through Christian music playing in my home and in my car…through beauty in nature and the sunrise and sunset….constant reminders that HE IS HERE!!!! Please keep me in your prayers…going through the rebuilding of my life after an unwanted divorce consisting of my beloved (now ex) husband of 25 years and 4 beautiful children ( youngest is 14 and it sounds like your devotions for teen girls will be a definate!!) who had a mid-life crises 5 years ago, ended up living with this lady 14 years younger than him….Oh Lord- please bring your mercy and justice!!! Been the hardest of hard because we were both Christians when we married….each of our children were answers to prayers… you know this just ISNT “supposed” to happen to a Christian marriage!! So, I’m having an awfully hard time with this, and I HAVE TO MOVE FORWARD!!!! This is SO unfair and unfortunate and incredibly wrong and hurts the heart of our Father…and I know HE understands more than anyone- betrayal and forsaken love. I know the Lord will work good out of this tragedy somehow , someway! Thanks for all you do.

  144. Emily Buck says:

One of the ways i am reminded of who God is, is when life’s circumstances start getting so hairy, that it gets silly. And after reviewing how overwhelmed I truly am, I get that scripture in my head that says “For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you, not to harm you, (Jeremiah 29:11) and Proverbs 19:21 Many are the plans in a man’s heart, but it is the LORD’s purpose that prevails.”… those remind me of who God is!!

Then I back down and let him LEAD!

  145. I’ve just begun to wander of the wilderness of darkness that I placed myself in for the past 15 years of my life. I have to reminder myself daily that He is always with me. ALWAYS. This quote is my reminder: “There is no pit so deep, that God’s love is not deeper still.” [Corrie ten Boom]

  146. Cindy Shick says:

I’m reminded of who God is as soon as my eyes open every morning. I could not make it a day without Him! He is my everything, and I have to totally give myself to Him everyday. When I die to self, then I am reminded that God is in control of me.

  147. I don’t have to remind myself of who God is-He does that for me! Through His Word, through His Creation, through friends & family members, through trials, through music, and even through the antics of my silly dogs! When our hearts and gazes are turned towards Him-He reveals Himself in everyday things…. In ALL things! He knows how to prod me, He knows exactly what it takes to get my attention, and I am GRATEFUL!!! <3

  148. Carolyn Rogers says:

Thank you for the devo. I remind myself that he loves me Romans 8:38-39. Looking forward to the next in your “Building a Bridge to Your Child’s Heart” series. Have a wonderful weekend and hope your talks and travel go super!

  152. Gail barber says:

Our family has been having lots of struggles this past year, from a granddaughter in a hospital for the last year with heart issues, to a daughter who is struggling to keep her spirits up as she has a husband and 3 little boys back in North Dakota and she and baby E. in Mpls. Now I found out I am getting close to having treatment for CLL. Your website is fairly new to me, I love what I see, so count me In.

  158. Christine Marie says:

Thanks to a very dear friend I use Jeremiah 32:27 to remind me of who God is. It says “I am the Lord, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for me?” Thank you for this word today. 2013 has turned out to be a year of trials for myself and my family so I’ve done lots of growing!

  159. Sherri Smith says:

My children’s laughter reminds me who God is. I’m in!

  163. Nicci Ramirez says:

    Sigh…busy busy day…… I’m In!!!!!!

  164. I just begin to start thanking God for who He is and all his blessings on my life!

  165. When I need a reminder of who God is, I find a way to do something to serve people around me (cook them a meal, run errands for them, help with children, etc). This helps me focus on God’s heart of love for us and how He wants us to show His love to others. Also, praise music and scripture written on post-it notes around my house and car help!

  166. Barb Watt says:

God encourages me by reminding me of my Mothers teachings to me about the Lord and His Word. Psalm 25 is my favorite. I’m in!

  167. “Because I know”. Do I ever need to be reminded of that EVERY day. I didn’t really think of trials as a joyful thing until I read your blog, but if GOD IS waiting on the other side, then who can be against us? Thank you so much, Lynn for sharing those powerful verses in your devotional. These last couple of months, I have been trying to find my GOD given purpose all over again, and realize what its like when you step away from your Savior for too long (2 years)- Satan given trials, that could possibly have been avoided, if my vision wasn’t blurred and “because I know” GOD WILL get me through that trial to mature me into a better Christian…if Satan wasn’t holding me down…..AMEN to your devotional and verses. Thank you for sharing with a broken but healing Christian.

  168. Music is the biggest reminder to me of who God is. He knows exactly what I need to here or be reminded of at just the right moment and never fails to bless me with hearing a song to remind me. It’s as if He is reaching down and wrapping His arms around me!

  169. Amazing grace! I’m in!

  170. I’m going through a rough time with my adult daughter. Thanks for you great devotion and reminder that God’s using my trials to mold me and make me into who he wants me to be.

My because hsppens when the Holy Spirit reminds me that I can stand my trial and temptation because God is always with me

  175. Heather Corcoran says:

    I’m in!!!!

  176. kelley igo says:

    I ‘m all in!!!!

  177. When I need a reminder…I look to the sky. We have beautiful, big blue skies in Texas so just looking towards heaven and seeing God’s creation snaps me out of things and reminds me of my great Creator!

  178. iraida malpica says:

    i believe i am reminded every day…songs i hear… nature…i work with babies..so their little smiles…His Word

  179. Prayer is so important. I just started keeping a prayer journal.

  180. Nicole Husak says:

Trials are so tough! I have faced and are facing many over the course of the past 10 years. Major health concerns, financial struggle, loss of employment, raising children, and the list could go on and on. The Lord never said it would be easy but He did promise I would never be alone. Even though at times I feel alone, it is amazing to look back on those times and realize it was only by His STRENGTH, GRACE, and GUIDANCE I was even able to make it, because there is absolutely no way in my human strength I could ever do it!! Love Mandisa’s song, Overcomer!!!!!

  181. I put Gods reminders on 3×5 cards and I put one on my night stand to read before I go to bed and when I wake up, I put another one in my car that I read when stopped at a red light and I also put one on my desk at work to read throughout the day. Sometimes I put them on my refrigerator or write them with an expo marker on my mirror in the bathroom. I keep blank cards in my pocketbook so I can write Gods reminders on them right when I hear them at church.

  182. I listen to praise and worship music or sermons and then count all my blessings and thank the Giver. 🙂

  183. I’M IN. “Because I know” Wow. What a powerful devotional. That makes trials seem easier now. I enjoyed reading your devotional. It gave me comfort even when there is little because GOD is, and always will be in the stillness. Thank you Lynn for sharing. I had posted a comment earlier, but I don’t see it up there. I am sad that I don’t see it up there. Trials. But GOD is with me, and I am persevering. Again, thank you for sharing.

    1. Lynn Cowell says:

I’m sorry it took so long for your comment to post. I am away speaking and my computer required me to approve of it first.

Thank you so much for sharing!

  184. Please count me in. Praying for the trials my brother is going through. Your devotions hi
    t home today. Thank you!

  185. Thank you for the devotion ! I am here from Encouragement for today. I see God through my daily “walk in life”. As I take my morning walk, I pray. I see the beauty of the mountains, the trees, the big blue sky. I am reminded and give thanks to God for all the beauty he created. I listen to Christian radio as I’m out driving, and look so forward to reading the devotionals. God’s word is like the nourishing food I need to have a “right day” with the right attitude and mindset. When I am feeling myself slipping into a bad attitude about some thing or another, I pick a Christian song that I remember from childhood days and start singing it, it really helps ! I’m in !

  186. Staci Richard says:

To remind myself of who God is, I remember past difficulties and how He got me through each of them. At the times I have been in the middle of each of those specific trials, I have been worried, nervous or fearful. I am such a s-l-o-w learner. I am thankful God is more patient and forgiving than I am! And I am thankful for the gift of hope that He continues to give me. Lord, when I feel like I can’t think about anything but my current difficulty, please help me to keep my eyes and heart on You and trust You to do what is best. In Jesus’ name, amen.

  187. Jennifer D. says:

I love to listen to praise and worship music and read the Word to be reminded.

  188. I like to have Christian radio on. Not just music but Moody Radio that brings God’s Word constantly before my ears. I love to wake in the morning and realize how blessed I am by God that He allowed me to have another day to try to live for Him the way He wants me to and that He has allowed me another day with the blessings of my children and my husband. I also like that your emails come through and remind me that I need to be seeking God constantly as He is seeking me. I LOVE that He desires a relationship with me even though I fail to be always be obedient. Thank you for your advice and wisdom on raising Godly daughters. It is an encouragement. I would love to do your Bible Study with our girls in our Youth Group. Maybe someday 🙂

  189. I love Romans 8:28 to remind me that no matter how difficult, sad, heart breaking or frustrating a situation is God uses all things for good for those that Love Him. The biblical story that I like to illustrate this point is bow God changed Joseph from a brother sold into slavery to second in command over all of Egypt. Now that is a reminder of God using trials to the ultimate good. Praise God.

  190. Teresa Johnson says:

I’m in! What a powerful reminder. God is Good….

  191. Honestly, I get so frustrated with myself at times that I don’t love my Lord and Savior as I should. But rather than condemning myself, I have learned from proverbs 31 ministries to fail forward. For the past three weeks I have set an alarm on my phone to go off periodically through the day. When it does, I stop and speak out my verse for the week. I have decided today after reading the blog that this would also be a good way to turn my verse into prayer and talk with God. Thank you for your loving and gentle reminder! The idea of possibly receiving a gift was another little incentive!:)

  192. Hi Lynn! I am in! My favorite reminder is Isaiah 41:10 “Do not be afraid, I am with you; do not be anxious, I am your God! I will strengthen you. I will help you. I will uphold you with my victorious and righteous right hand.” Thanks for your reminder! God bless!

  193. Thank you for this precious reminder this morning as I let God take my fears, insecurities and worries from my soul and place them into His perfect hands. He knows I don’t need to carry them at all.

  194. Hi Lynn, loved the devotion and I am in! I am reminded dail. By starting each day sspending an hour wit God praying and journalong while enjoying a cup of coffee. He reminds me that no matter what life throws at me that I will be okay and He gives me the peach of mind to handle anything even when in don’t have the answers! God is so amazing!

  195. Thanks for the reminder that HE has not forgotten me in my trials. HE has brought out of abusive relationship with my mother and then ex-husband, sexual as a child (neighbor), a messy divorce and child custody case, losing our home, etc. HE knows what I need it and when I need it and he never ceases to amaze me with HIS unfailing love, and presence in my life.

  196. For several years, in doing a one year reading through the Bible, would look for a character quality of God or of something that needed to be built into me. One year was gratefulness, a servant’s heart (that was really challenging!), among others; my husband suggested looking at God’s faithfulness. What a huge gift to my heart in looking for that & seeing God’s faithfulness; He truly implanted it into my heart so when my husband passed away a couple years later, I was confident of His faithfulness & how He had me! I’m in!

  197. Reading His Word reminds me of who He is, but also looking at the world
that He created. Right now looking at the beautiful trees with their changing
    colors.

  198. I’m in! Because I know He is faithful and will never leave me or forsake me!

  199. Thank you for allowing God to speak to us through you!

  200. When I need to remind myself who God is, I seek Him in prayer. I go to Him. And when I do, He is always waiting with arms open wide.

  201. I just attended Lysa Terkerust conference & today opened this website. I am 60 & it was great to be reminded of who the true love of our heart is & how to start he day being filled up w/ Him. I do have to bring to mind there can only be ONE to have the keys to my heart, & trust Him & turn to Him for “life”.

  202. I’ m in. I have had an extremely difficult last 5yrs. It is always good to be reminded that god
Is growing me. The pruning hurts and sometimes I just am not sure how to keep going . I think your blog reminded me that it isn’t me but Him . That god has a plan and is drawing my family closer to one another. I remind myself “babysteps”
    Thanks for the encouragement .

  203. Hopefully not too late!! I’m in!! Just read your devotional on struggles…very timely!! Thanks for your reminder that our Heavenly Father is in the business of making us more like Him!! Often those trials are hard but from the hand of a loving Father who knows us best!
