Blessed Christmas

I hope all of you had a Christmas that truly reflected on His birth! Probably like many of you, it is hard to keep our family focused on the reason for the celebration!

In November, I shared with you some ideas for doing just that. One of those ideas was to make a priceless gift for those you love. In my last post, I shared with you the words I had put into calligraphy for my daughter, Mariah. I also made a framed verse for Zach. His was a quote from Andrew Murray.

You will ask me, are you satisfied? Have you got all you want? God forbid. With the deepest feeling of my soul I can say that I am satisfied with Jesus now; but there is also the consciousness of how much fuller the revelation can be of the exceeding abundance of His grace. Let us never hesitate to say, this is only the beginning.

Madison’s was a paraphrase of Luke 14:33 by Leslie Ludy:
“To be my discipline, to be a set-apart one, costs everything you have. Don’t delude yourself into thinking it will only cost you a portion of your existence! The very essence of a discipline is one that has completely emptied their inner sanctuary of all other lovers to make room for Me, their heavenly Prince.”

We gave these to the kids at a time separate from the time we did the rest of our gifts, so they would have a greater effect.

We also had the kids write letters to each other which they read before they opened their gifts. As they shared from their hearts things they don’t regularly share, it was a moment as a mother that you long to hear and see. At the end of this special time together, Zach said, “We need to do this again next year!” It was wonderful!

  1. Lynn, how precious. These gifts will be treasures forever I'm sure. Very meaningful gifts. Gifts that speak of the development of godly character. Absolutely beautiful. What an inspiration for the next generation.

Happy New Year my friend. May the Lord continue to write His Words across your heart,
    Love & prayers,
    Joy
