His Hands and Feet

My daily Bible reading has been so good lately, I have found I am on May 27th (sometimes it just is so good I can’t put it down). This morning I read Proverbs 3:27 – 28 “Do not withhold good from those who deserve it when it’s in your power to help them. If you can help your neighbor now, don’t say, “Come back tomorrow, and then I’ll help you.” (NLT)

I thought that was so good – I shared it with my kids at breakfast. Sometimes I’ll hear one of them say, “Can I use your…..?” and for some reason the answer from the other is “no”. There doesn’t appear to be any reason for the “no”; it just seems to be a natural reaction.

Then I read today’s devotion from Proverbs 31. Sharon Glasgow shares this “Everyone has different abilities to help with – never underestimate what your ability is. God created you to use your ability for His glory for His people. Many people are going through hardships today. There are people in need living next door to you, working with you, going to church with you. Strangers that you meet and even your own family may be th ose who need help.

God’s words tell us to be constantly alert for what God wants us to do. It is required that we show love in action – not just in our words, but in deeds and in truth. When we wake in the morning, let’s ask the Lord to help us hear His voice more clearly, to have spiritual eyes to see, and to give us His ability to carry out the mission He has for us this day.”

I always pay extra close attention when I read something twice in one day! Where might there be someone in your life, today, who needs some extra help? Extra encouragement? A meal, a card or a spoken prayer? As Sharon said, they are all around us, we just need to be on the look out for them!
