Anyone who knows me knows that I am crazy about movies set back in time. Think Braveheart. Throw a little romance in there, and I am hooked!

This verse reminds me of a time gone by.

“Who is this, robed in splendor,

striding forward in the greatness of his strength?

“It is I, proclaiming victory, mighty to save.” —Isaiah 63:1

I picture Aragorn from Lord of the Rings, riding on a horse, rescuing those he loved from evil.
There are some days when I need someone who loves me to come to my rescue. Pressures around me threaten to pull me under. My own dumb mistakes leave my relationships in a mess. My own thoughts make me feel sad and dejected.
We don’t have to wish that we lived in a different time with knights coming to our rescue. We live in a time when a Prince has come to our rescue, and his name is Jesus. There is no reason for us to try to pull ourselves out of sticky situations we can’t repair. Jesus, who has all power and strength, is ready to come to our rescue. It is so simple; it just takes calling one word. Jesus.

Simply saying his name brings power into our lives. I really don’t understand it. I just know that when I feel like I can’t take any more, whispering his name brings his peace.

Jesus, I can’t ever repay you for rescuing me. Thank you for giving me your strength. Amen.

Practice today just saying his name: Jesus. Experience the peace of the One who wants you and will come to your rescue each time you call his name.

  1. Calling the name of “Jesus” revives my spirit and gives me the insights I need to daily live a victorious life. Jesus is the sweetest name I know and it brings power and peace to me as I inwardly and outwardly call on His name. Whenever I am in doubt or fear, just calling on the Lord can bring me resolution and rest. Thank you for bringing this principle to many who don’t know that there is power in the name of Jesus.

  2. Oh yes, I get it. Especially, “My own thoughts make me feel sad and dejected.” So true. And Jesus is near as we call out, He calls back, “I love you ALWAYS, NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO OR DON’T DO!” Bless you friend!
