It’s Wedding Season

Years ago I had a bridal business. It was so much fun seeing giggly girls, ecstatic moms and trepid fiances come in to plan the big day. Sometimes I used to laugh inside when I would ask them when their date was. Many times it was two years off! So much planning for a few short hours.

For us who are in love with the King, we, too, are in wedding season. He has popped the big question, and we have said “Yes!” with all of our hearts. So what to do now? Does a bride sit back and wait for the big day to come? I never met one who did. There were those who were short on time that just had to see me today. Others felt that they had all the time in the world; maybe in fact had not even set the date for certain. Yet they were all planning. Doing their research on everything they would need to gather together to make it the best day of their lives.

We, too, need to be planning for the best day of our lives. When we exactly know when that day will be; that day when He will finally say “It’s time”. March 22nd was that day for a precious woman that I knew. Her name was Naomi Thomas. She had spent over forty years preparing for that day. She taught teenagers like me about her groom and introduced us to Him. She lived her life learning as much as she could about Him and sharing that Great News with others. She knew that that day would come and she was ready.

Let’s follow Naomi’s example. Let’s get up each day and say, “Today, I am going to learn more about my groom. Today, I am going to prepare for the day when it is the greatest day of my life.” For me today, it meant I started out spending some time reading His love notes to me. Ephesians 1:11 – 12 says, “It’s in Christ that we find out WHO we are and what we are living for long before we first heard of Christ and got our hopes up, he had his eye on us, had designs on us for glorious living, part of the overall purpose he is working out in everything and everyone.” You see, He had his eye on me. He was in love with me; was wild and crazy about me before I even knew He was looking.

He is wild about you, too! Psalm 45:11 says “The King is wild about you…” In Ephesians it said “he had his eye on you”. He’s the one looking at you from across the room – hoping to catch your eye…just hoping that you will look at Him. Enjoy His attention. Give Him attention back. This is one romance that never ends and never dries up.

The wedding is coming…let’s get ready!
