Never Gets Old

Exodus 15:13 “In your unfailing love you will lead the people you have redeemed. In your strength you will guide them to your holy dwelling.”

Unfailing love. In Hebrew this word is hesed. Hesed is central to God’s character. All that He does flows out of this unfailing love. This is where His love and our love are so different.

Our love can flow from our need to be loved in return.

Our love can flow from our desire to be wanted.

Our love can flow from our fear of rejection.

And though our love can prove unfaithful, both to those around us and to God Himself, His love cannot. It is everlasting.

Isaiah 54:8 “…with everlasting kindness (hesed) I will have compassion on you, “says the Lord your Redeemer.” NIV

Thankfuness for that compassion is what flows from my heart this morning. Thankfulness for this love that never tires of me. This love that will never feel that “it’s gotten old”. This love that is everlasting; perfect.
