No One Can Resist Being Loved On

Prayer Journal

Praying for my children with “Praying God’s Word Over Your Life” as my resource, I read these words:

“Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, watching over them—not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not pursuing dishonest gain, but eager to serve;” 1 Peter 5:2 (NIV)

As I made this scripture my prayer, I felt:

I don’t want you to just pray for your children; pray for those who don’t have someone to pray for them.

More prayer? Just yesterday as one of my children struggled I felt convicted that I hadn’t prayed for her enough that day, even when I knew she was having a hard time.

Make a page for them in your prayer journal, just as if they were your own.

I’m not all that sure why, but for years, teens have felt comfortable calling me all kinds of names. Mama Cowell, Momma #2. And I’ve let them. I am glad they feel I care about them.

Now, God is calling me to not just let it be a nickname, but to step in and be the mom that is praying for them.

So, I am. Not only am I praying for them, but I texted them and let them know. The response I received surprised me.

No one can resist being loved on.

As you take out your prayer list today, ask Jesus for the name of a child who needs to be added. Ask Him to give you the heart of a mom toward this one who is precious to Him. Just watch Him make room in a place that is already so full!
