One Step Closer

Yesterday I flew out to Colorado Springs to meet my new literary agent, Blythe Daniel. I am really excited! We seem like a great fit!
(We didn’t have someone to take the picture for us!)

This is outside my hotel window. What a view of Pike’s Peak. They just got snow on it this week. The newspaper said that was very rare. God must have done it for me!

After a lot of work, I headed out to the Garden of the Gods. (So glad I through in my hiking boots last minute). This has to be some of God’s very best work…He is amazing!

I got a lot done, worked hard and was productive. But now I am ready to go home and see my family!!

  1. Welcome home. Lynn! I read your P 31 devo. I couldn't agree more. This movin' mama has experienced exactly what you wrote about – we need community. I'm with you- even blogged about it on my Movin' On Mondays entry. What gorgeoius pictures. What an exciting venture to go to Colorado, see God's handiwork, and work on a book!

  2. Just read your Prov 31 devotion. How true, how true. I long for a slower pace as well, as much as I try to pick and choose and let go of this and that, there still seems to be a crazy pace set before me. I believe that relationships with our girlfriends and our husbands require work, the rewards are great, but it is hard work to have community. Somedays it just seems easier to do the email thing. Thank you for the reminder and the encouragement today.

  3. Lynn, as I read your devotional this morning so many things echoed true and continued the more I read. On a side note, I am from Bettendorf, IA so it was awesome to see you lived in Davenport at one point. I loved the prayer to help me slow down to embrace the friendships established and I will continue to prayer to have my eyes opened to knew friendships. I am guily of becoming so wrapped up in my life, work, and children, that I neglect the friendships in my own community. This devotional falls on a missed opportunity that I will make an effort to not ever happen again. Thank you for your words, prayer, and inspiration!!! I would love to learn more about your "Out of Control and Loving It" session. How do I do that?

  4. Hey Lindmark5,
How cool…another Iowan! I loved living in the QCA!
"Out of Control and Loving It" is a teaching I do about allowing the Holy Spirit to have control of your love – and learning to be comfortable trusting Him with all of the many, many details of our lives. Like most people, I have had many experiences where I have chosen to trust Him and saw Him move and times when I have HAD to trust Him, because I didn't have a choice. I believe the disciples said "Who do we have to turn to but to you, Lord?"
I would love an opportunity to share it with your community of believers! Just let me know if you would like to look into that or you can contact [email protected].
    Thanks!
    Lynn

  5. Just read your Proverbs 31 devotional. First of all, I live in Iowa now, but grew up in Indiana. I can relate so well to your "moving story". 🙂

Thank you for the wonderful reminder. It's easy to get caught up in this internet based world with blogging/facebook, etc and forget about those relationships right before our eyes.

Another thing about the internet…on blogs, facebook or e-mail we can be so "surface" and not so "deep." It's so easy to leave out all the icky details and give this holy, holy impression. Do you know what I mean? Yet, it's the people right in our own homes and own communities that know the "real" us…and love us anyway. 🙂

How can we share the Lord with the whole, great big internet world and not share Him right where we are?

    God bless you, Lynn!
