Success Summer Tips

Friends,

It is good to be back with my family and writing to you! I have just returned from an incredible weekend at Calvary Chapel Oceanside, California. The “Breaking the Mold: Saying No in a Yes Only World” teen conference was truly amazing. I had the priviledge of speaking along side Shari Braendel and Dan and Nicole Leitz. Girls came to know Jesus and lives were changed which is what it is all about!

I hope you have all been putting to good use the successful summer tips that Peter has supplied us with. I know that I have been biting my tongue a whole lot, especially as the kids are now home 24/7. Just a couple of hours ago a fight was on the horizon concerning a lost camera. Thankfully, the Holy Spirit reminded me to stay calm and the tornado storm filled with dark words was averted!

Let’s look at our last tip today:

1 Peter 3:10-12 “Whoever would love life and see good days must keep his tongue from evil and his lips from deceitful speech. He must turn from evil and do good; he must seek peace and pursue it. For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their prayer, but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.” NIV

This summer, and all of the summers to come for that matter, I want the Lord’s eyes on me and his ears attentive to my prayers!

Peter’s last point, then, is to seek peace and pursue it. Seeking peace. Again, an action. Not something that just happens, but something I must be very active in doing. Not just seeking, but pursuing; even that much more intentional. Pursuing means to get after it; whatever it takes!

In our homes this summer, let’s listen to our conversations…closely. Are we using words that are building up the members of our family? Are our children being invested in? Are our husbands aware of just how much we support and respect them? And when it gets hard to control our tongue, we need to pled with the Holy Spirit that much more for the power that only he can give.

Let’s make this a summer to remember, friends. A summer of close relationships and being used by the Lord with the powerful muscle he has trusted us with…our tongues!

Wishing I was still in Oceanside where is was in the ’70’s and not in Charlotte where it is smoking’ hot 🙂

I was there with our girls from Calvary Chapel of Escondido. I was SO blessed by what you shared! I LOVED what you said about God trying to get our attention. You mentioned a nature quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson, but I couldn't write it down fast enough. I tried Googling it but didn't find it. There was a similar quote from George Washington Carver: "I love to think of nature as an unlimited broadcasting station, through which God speaks to us every hour, if we will only tune in.” Could you post the quote you shared?

  2. Yolanda,
I am so glad that you were encouraged at the conference at Calvary Chapel. Maybe one day we can come to Escondido!
The quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson is "We are closer God in his creation than in any cathedral made with human hands."
I really liked the one by George Washington Carver.
Thanks for stopping by my blog; I hope you'll come back soon!

  3. Thank you for replying! I remember it now! When you quoted Ralph Waldo Emerson, I whispered to the girl next to me, "That's why I got married outside." =) Thank you SO much!
