The Giver of Bread

To those of you who are joining me today after reading my devotion with Proverbs 31, welcome! For those of you who haven’t and would like to read it, click here and click on today’s devotion.

So, the holiday season is here in all it’s fullness! I have resolved that this year I am going to enjoy His birthday! I started reading a book at breakfast to my kids called “Immanuel…Praying the Names of God Through the Christmas Season” by Ann Spangler. I am hoping this will help us to stay focused!

As many of you know, my husband’s work is in sales; financial sales. In this time we are in, that is a tough row to hoe. As I have been praying for him and his work over the past few weeks, I have been praying Jesus’ words in Matthew that says that He will not give us a stone when we ask for bread. This past Monday, I started my time with Him in prayer, praying these thoughts again. After I was done, I began to prepare for my small group that I have with six sixth grade girls. The passage of study for them was Matthew 7: 9 – 11. I could hardly believe that the same verse I had just prayed was the same verse I was going to teach! “Which of you, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!”

He is our Daddy; He will take care of us. For me, it all comes down to trusting Daddy. He knows exactly what we need when we need it. He has proven Himself to be faithful to us time and time and time again. We can trust Him again! My prayer for you during this season, both of Christmas time and economic trouble, is that this will be one of those times when you will look back and say you grew. Grew to trust and grew in finding Him trustworthy!

Say a prayer for Greg and I. We are on our way to run our 1/2 marathon tomorrow morning. It will be hard, but it will be good!

Have an incredible weekend!

Lynn
