The Two K’s – Week 2 – Kindness

“The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness…” Galatians 5:22

This weekend I had the wonderful opportunity to speak at the Mother/Daughter weekend at Mt. Pisgah Academy near Asheville, North Carolina. After each session and the Q&A time, I realized just about every application, action and answer came back to one thing…the Word of God.

Kindness is no different. Jeremiah 9:23 -24 tells us: “Let not the wise man boast of his wisdom or the strong man boast of his strength or the rich man boast of his riches, but let him who boasts boast about this: that he understands and knows me, that I am the Lord, who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight.”

In order for us to be able to live out kindness, we need to understand and know the Lord who exercises kindness. Kindness does not naturally pour out of our hearts; selfishness, rudeness, me-first does. It is only as our understanding and depth of knowledge of our always kind God grows, that we ourselves grow kind.

So once again, it comes back to being daily in God’s word. Be it for two minutes, 20 minutes or two hours, carve out time to get with God and get kindness.
