Unstuck

“It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.” Galatians 5:1

Do you feel stuck?

Stuck with the same group of friends?

Stuck doing the same things over and over again; even though you know it is bad for you?

Stuck.

Christ died to make us unstuck, but he’s not going to do the “unsticking” for us. He will help. His word promises us that he is an ever present help in time of need. (Psalm 46:1) We have to take that first step to get unstuck.

What is your first step?

Asking a new friend to coffee?

Getting a filter on your computer?

Joining an accountability group?

Sharing with a godly friend your secret sin?

Jesus died to set you free from the things in your life that are dragging you down, but before he can do that, you have to begin to hate being drug down. You have to get to the point where you are over being a slave to this thing in your life. Call it what it is – sin. Ask Jesus to forgive you for it and then take action.

Today’s verse tells us that Jesus did not set us free for us to get stuck again. He set us free so we can be free; completely and permanently.

Take the step and then change the way you think about it. Stop dwelling on the guy; think on Jesus. Stop texting those old friends; call out to your New Friend. Walk away from the computer. Be free.

Jesus, I am over being stuck in my sin. Please “unstick” me. Empower me, one thought at a time, to change my thinking so I can keep being free. I need you, Jesus. Amen

  1. Lynn,
I loved your post this morning and it is just what I needed. I have found myself overwhelmed by the feeling of being confined to where I am in my life. The same job, the same routine, the same monotony. Your post gives me hope that I can get out of the routine and focus my life on Jesus and what he has to offer! Thank you!

    1. Cara, Isn’t it so good to serve a loving God who can unstick us! We need him so!

  2. Lovely. Love the idea of being transformed form stuck to unstuck. Reposted it for my women’s ministry page for them to be encouraged, too.

    1. Just know that is how I feel sometimes…especially when it comes to relationships. So glad it was helpful to you, Nicole!

  3. Alicia Young says:

This is exactly how I have been feeling about my life. Stuck and just existing…not really living. Thanks so much!!

  4. Thanks! I needed your message today!

  5. This is something that I have struggling with for several years now. I feel like God has me on this path towards love but I am stuck waiting. Now I wonder if God has just given up on me.

    1. Rosemary, He will NEVER NEVER NEVER give up on you! He says in Malachi 3:7 “…return to me and I will return to you.” He also says “Draw close to me and I will draw close to you.” Run after him! Pray – whispering short words of love to him, words of help – all day long. Spend as much time as you can reading his word and then sneaking away a minute here and one there to re-read his truth. As you keep seeking him, you will find him!

  6. Followed this link from Proverbs 31 Ministries on facebook and it was music to my ears! I love what you said about God wanting to help, but we have to take the first step. That first step is so difficult at times. I’ve been stuck for a bit, but finally took the first step in asking that friend to coffee and began sharing what has been causing me to be stuck. It’s such a freedom knowing that I don’t have to do this alone. I know that God will help me get unstuck, but having a friend to help has been wonderful as well. Thanks for sharing this post! Love it!!

    1. Isn’t God so good to give us friends to help us! I am so glad this was helpful Michelle! Hope you’ll be back soon to join our community of women wanting to grow wiser…
