Wednesday Wisdom Tip: The Secret’s Out

You know that feeling you get when you know all is not right, yet you can’t put your finger on it?

You don’t want to start accusing and risk damaging relationship nor do you want to be naive to what may be happening.

It’s here that I find myself relying on God.

Dan 2:22 tells us “He reveals deep and hidden things; he knows what lies in darkness, and light dwells with him.” (NIV)

Often in my times of crying out to God for help in this thing called raising kids, I ask Him to please show me what I can’t see or what I am missing.

Please bring the hidden things of darkness to light.

Finding out secrets has become somewhat of a joke around here. I have heard one of my children tell a friend, “We can’t do it at my house; my mom finds out everything.”

We don’t find out everything, especially as two of my kids are now adults. I have seen, though, as I prayed this scripture over our the lives of our family, because of His great love for us, He doesn’t let us hide out in our sin for long. At times when we have tried to cover something up, He allows it all to unravel. He just loves us too much to not bring hurtful sin into the light.

I encourage you to pray Daniel 2:22 over your family. It may be painful, but it is a safer place when secrets come out.

  1. I know that feeling all too well and have prayed that same prayer over my daughter – and God has been so faithful to answer it! I also learned some very painful things, but am grateful for it. I have learned to trust God more and my own faith has been strengthened by seeing Him work in unexplainable ways. 🙂
