10 Verses for Building Unshakeable Confidence

If you are joining me here today from my Proverbs 31 Ministries devotion, welcome!  I’d love to connect with you more on Facebook, TwitterInstagram,  and Pinterest at Lynn Cowell.

Maybe, like me, you have experienced a time when you found your confidence, not just in yourself, but in God, rocked? I am so very grateful that God didn’t just fill the Bible with those who were successful every time or those who always got it right. If He did, I am afraid there would be too many times I would want to quit; completely give up.

Instead, He shared stories of those who failed, like David, and who got up, praised Him and kept on moving.

Today, God can make us brave, whether life is all coming together or all falling apart.

We can have a heart and mind that is set in place, secure, and attached, even when our circumstances say “failure”. The first step toward having this type of unshakeable confidence is by knowing what God’s word says to us and about us.

Here are 10 verses for us to build unshakeable confidence, not so much in us, but in the Holy Spirit who lives inside those of us who are His! Print this list out right now, carry it with you and soak your heart in this truth!

  26. Thank you for the reminder of the beautiful words of confidence rooted deep within God’s word! 1. Lynn Cowell says:

Kami – thank you so much for being an encouraging voice to our young people! May the Lord give you the wisdom you need each and every day as you pour out His truth!

  31. Bonna Williamson says:

Confidence…something that I have rarely had in my life. God provides his unending love and strength and all we have to do is reach out and grasp it. Why is it so hard to hold on to? Years of hearing how fat I am from total strangers and years of allowing people in this ‘world’ make me feel i
That I don’t measure up. I am 44 years old and feel almost completely incapable of having confidence. But I know that All things are possible out of this ‘world’ and therefore through the Holy Spirit I could accomplish more for His kingdom if I could let go of the hurts of the past. equally as important to me would be sharing this confidence with my sons girl friend. She has been through many trials. I would like to know her better and share this Loveing message with her.

    1. Lynn Cowell says:

Oh Jesus! We live in such a cruel world. Please be a balm to Bonna’s hurting heart. May she know your truth; that gorgeous is more than a face in the mirror. It is the heart of a woman transformed by You and sharing your love with the world around her. Thank you for her faith. Take her hand, one step at a time, toward healing and Your confidence, Lord! Amen

  32. I’d like to share these with my daughter and with a friend struggling with some tough circumstances.

  33. Pamela Blosser says:

This hit home for me and as a mother, I immediately thought my daughter would benefit from this package. She is 19 and in her last semester of nursing school. It’s a tough one and she doesn’t feel as confident as she would like going into a critical test today. She is questioning God’s will in a personal matter as well and seeking confidence in His guidance. Even if we don’t win the giveaway, I will show her your Proverbs 31 article. As a single mom, teaching our young daughters to look at themselves as “attached” to God is not always easy but it is always right! Blessings to everyone!

    1. Lynn Cowell says:

Father, we lift up Pamela’s daughter to you today. As she takes her test, bring back to her mind all she has studied. May she feel you giving her memory recollection and may she know it is you supporting her. Amen

  38. Thank you for these verses, Lynn. Your Proverbs 31 came just in time… I’m at a place where I’m doubting the path I’m on. My faith in God is thankfully in tact, but I am doubting if I “heard” Him right. I’d share these books with my two sisters, maybe even our mother. There are layers upon layers of hurt in all our hearts. I already have a copy of a confident heart and I’ve been telling my sisters this book is must read.

    1. Lynn Cowell says:

Marie, I know that place you find yourself in. I am so thankful for God’s word, for even when I am unsure of my steps, I can confidently rest on Him. His wisdom, love and faithfulness. Thank you so much for sharing today!

  39. First of all thank you for your words. These past two weeks have been an emotional roller coaster and included in that has been my relationship with God and the feeling of failure. Each day God brings his words to me through devotions such as yours and others from Proverbs 31 and other resources. Giving me confirmation and application for what He is wanting to do.
I have a very special girl friend that we meet regularly , and would benefit from this bundle, as we work through it together. Thank you so much for sharing your heart. God is faithful.

  40. Me. I dont hav the courage these other women do to tell my story. But ive been strongly persuing christ for the last 2yrs and i havnt found my heart healed. It makes me wonder where does my faith lack, Why cant i get out of this rutt? Am i not praying right? Im reaching for any resources that may help. Then i pass them to or share with a fellow christian woman who struggles thru life and doesnt have the means to accure the resourses herself.

    1. Lynn Cowell says:

Carrie, I am sorry, friend, that you are finding the healing you need and are looking for, so hard to find. I once heard that the process that hurt us was a slow one and the process to heal us is slow too. I know God will be faithful to you as you continue to follow after Him in pouring His word into your heart and obeying Him. May I pray for you?

Jesus, I ask you to continue the good work you have started in Carrie’s life. Bring alongside of her those who can help her and encourage her, one step at a time, toward having her heart completely restored. Thank you that you will not give up on us…ever. You will see the work You have purposed to do in our hearts to the very end. Amen

      1. Lynn, Thank you so much for the prayer. Honestly a prayer from ur heart means so much more to me than gettin these books. Thanks for the encouragement and support it really helps in these hard times. Its truely heart warming that you take the time to share w us all and put so much efforts into showing us gods love. Thank you for your ministries my friend.

  88. Good Morning! 95. I’m amazed at how many of us want to share this with our daughters. College age, teens, tweens, etc. I too have a teenager daughter trying to remain fearless and confident in her school and with her friends. And she is normally the one who sets the good example for those around her. She has new struggling with this and is gradually losing her self-confidence. High school is hard sometimes for our teens. I want her to have the strength she needs to stay strong and make good decisions.

    1. Lynn Cowell says:

My sister just recently divorced her husband of about 15 years. We are not very close, but I am trying through text messages to encourage her through this transition. Her 19 year old daughter just recently posted on facebook that she is tired of feeling “less than” all the time. And I, well, let’s just say that as a single mother of 2 young sons, I feel defeated alot. I would like to have this combo and share it among us, so that all three of us may get some right understanding about who we really are and can become in Christ. I would like for us to have more smiles and less tears this year……it’s been a long time coming. God bless you and thank you in advance if I am blessed with the combo gift. Lisa

  112. I would share this with my 17-year old daughter who once had a strong faith in God and trusted the Bible and has now turned her back on the things of God and is looking for satisfaction in the things of the world. It hurts this mama’s heart.

  118. I’d share this with a dear friend who lacks confidence in herself.

  119. I would share with my girls- teen and preteen. God has a plan for them beyond what i can even imagine!

  120. When I read today’s devo on Proberbs 31, I thought of our daughter Corrine. Then, once I read about this great book, I thought oh how can I find this for her. THEN, when I saw that you were offering this wonderful opportunity to win it, I thought Wow wouldn’t this be an answer to a financial deficit mother.

Corrine does not let grass grow under her feet. There have been multiple areas in her/other young peoples lives that we have stepped up to bat on their behalf. The advocacy usually brings change, however, it takes place for the next student/young lady and not Corrine. Get the idea… feeling a great about the change, yet feeling a bit defeated because the outcome never afforded her the opportunity to reap those particular benefits.

I know Corrine is witnessing a great life lesson. In turn, it has brought a bit of questioning whether the next “fight” is worth the battle. Building her faith & trust, self confidence, and strength in advocacy is what she and so many others may glean from such wonderful opportunities as this. TIA!

  121. I would share with my mother, she always told me confidence is not magic it is hard work!!!
    Make It A Great Day!!!!

  122. I would like to share/give these books to my 21 year old daughter, Ricamae. She is at this point in her life, seeking a lot of help build up her confidence. Our devotion every morning enlightens her a lot. Thank You for your ministry.

  123. I want very much to be able to share this gift with our 22 year old granddaughter. We have been blessed by God to be able to raise her for most of her life! Though her life has been very different than her friends, she always refers to herself as our “6th kid”. She has a heart filled with the love of God that is seen by everyone she meets. Lately she has gone through two very difficult circumstances that have led her, not to question God, but her value and ability. She has believed that she knows God’s plan and purpose for her life, but because of what has happened due to others opinions, she feels as if she has failed in hearing Him reveal His plan for her. I pray that being able to read and understand how God uses struggles and hurt to show us His love and His presence will be a blessing to her and will fill her with the hope and future that God has planned for her.

  124. Hi, Lynn. I’ve already shared Magnetic with all the teen girls in my life (including my 18 y.o. daughter), but not the other two books, so I could pass them around, as well. Would love a shot at perusing all of them for myself, as well!

    Thanks 🙂

  125. I would share this with … myself. Eight years ago my husband walked out on our 25-year marriage and left my son and I. My son has gone on to do great things, but I am struggling to rebuild life alone. Have had two relationships that left my heart — and my confidence — in tatters. Beginning to think I should just give it all up. Thanks for the consideration!

    1. Lynn Cowell says:

Tina, don’t you give up on you! Jesus never does and in His healing strength and power, we do not have to give up either. He can built and restore. Keep seeking His face and His help, friend!

  126. Jessica F says:

I would give them to my friend Chandler. She divorced recently and still struggles with her confidence. Thanks.

  127. Erika Segraves says:

Hi Lynn! I am reading your book Magnetic right now as a senior in college and I am thinking…”If only I had read this as a senior in high school!!”. Thank you for sharing your experiences and wisdom, I can see fruit of the spirit developing in my life already. I would share your books with friends going through relationship woes like I had been and with my sister who is about to graduate from high school. God Bless you!

    1. Lynn Cowell says:

Erika – thank you for reading Magnetic! You are right – there are truths in God’s word that definitely would have benefitted us all in our youngest years, but praise God His word can change us no matter what our age!

  128. susan davis says:

I would love to share this package with my 28 year old daughter who is struggling with job issues, health concerns and overall diminished self esteem. I want to help empower her to make some positive changes in her life, which I am confident these resources can provide. Sometimes a mom’s love, support and advice is just not enough to help effect the kind of change that comes through the Spirit. Thank you for this opportunity to share your wisdom!

  129. Pamela Ricketts says:

I would share the books with my sister who is struggling in her confidence with God. She’s just recuperating from a double masectomy, and now has to go through yet another surgery next month. I’ll read them also, so I’ll have the right words of comfort for her and for my teenage granddaugher that I’m raising as she deals with the issues of her freshmen year of high school.

  130. My Friend Melissa and I are both going through a divorce from toxic, unhealthy, narcissistic men. Being controlled and beat down for so long takes its toll. We are struggling everyday to keep above water and move forward, and remain hopeful for our futures. We both have young daughters and we talk about how we want so much to teach them to be confident and have strong feelings of self worth so that they will not make the same choices we did. All four of us girls could really benefit from resources to help our confidence and self worth as daughters of a King.

  131. I’d love to share this with my amazing mother Susan, and younger sister Emma.

  132. I would share this with my mother in law as she is going through a divorce as I am. I would also share this with my daughter. I want them both, as well as myself, to realize who we are through God!

  133. Briggette Evans says:

I would like to share with my daughters and the girls I teach in my high school Connect Group at church.

  134. Thank you for your words of inspiration! I would love to be able to give this to my daughter – she is such a beautiful child of God , but her low self esteem brings me to prayer a lot – my heart goes out to her – hoping someone else’s words will help!

  135. Wendy Surgi says:

I would love to share this with my daughter who has two girls and is struggling to start a home based business because of their financial situation. She is feeling beaten down and could really use some confidence building. Thank you for sharing your heart and insights. You are a blessing to me.

  136. My confidence has been shaken! For the past two months and even as recent as this morning where I listened for at least 30 minutes to “look what you’ve done, look what you’re doing to me, look at how you make me feel, look how you make me react this way” You, you, you! In all honesty, I don’t know what I’ve done nor what I’m doing to make someone say and feel these things. My finance is angry that I can’t/won’t set a date to be married because I’m hanging on to all the hurtful things he says to me. I have great fear and lack the confidence that our marriage will not be based on the “you, you, you” effect. I shut down instead of having confidence and standing firm. I KNOW that what he’s saying isn’t true but hearing it over and over begins fog my senses and I start believing that I’m not a good person and that I fail at every attempt. I seek God’s will and know God loves both of us. I just don’t know how to overcome the “look at you, look at what you, look at how you” comments. So, I would like to find confidence and be secure in who I am and who God has formed me to be. I apologize for the long post. It’s just all so fresh from this morning. So, I would like to read the books and soak-in the truth about who God made me to be.

    1. Lynn Cowell says:

Good morning, friend. Just reading these words makes my heart hurt. I can fully understand why you would not trust, especially if this situation is not in the past, but in fact, is something that is still happening.

I truly believe sometimes we cannot work on multiple things at once. Maybe now is the time to invest in you and your relationship with God and let the Lord take care of the details of this relationship. I pray He will give you the wisdom you need!

  137. Thank you Lynn for these scriptures and wonderful blog today!

What amazing resources you are giving away today! If I were blessed with these books, I would pass them along to my daughters and gift Magnetic to my granddaughter. She is 11 this year and received Christ has her savior last year. I would love to see all of them continue to grow in their faith.

    Blessings, Jana

  142. I would love to share this with my daughter who calls herself a failure frequently because of her struggles, and it breaks my heart

  143. My husband and I are on our way towards missionary aviation and so I attempted to start a business to promote prayer for unreached people’s around the world(to help with a little financial cushion). I didn’t fail completely, but I’ve lacked the drive and confidence to keep it going(with two little ones constantly at my side). I truly have a desire but my confidence is low. I get part of this mentality from my mom… Who would also benefit from the books.
Thank you for your encouraging words today!

  144. I would really like to read these for myself and share with my sister and my daughters. Even as an adult and a mother, I still have confidence issues and could use the wisdom in these books. And I would love to share them with family members too!

  145. I would share this with myself. I have a lack of confidence in everything I do and don’t feel like I’m good enough at times or that I will never be who I’m supposed to be. I would love to win this bundle so I can gain the confidence that God intends for me to have.

  146. I would share this package with my 19 y/o Goddaughter Erin who lost her father two years ago and is going through a difficult time. I really love her and am proud of her resilience and would love to help her with confidence in God!

  147. Kyle-Lynn Blaise says:

I would share this with one of the middle school girls in my youth group/life group. I won’t post her name but I know that her walk with Christ would benefit from these readings.

  148. I would give thus to my 17 year daughter. She struggles with and her confidence and know this would help her. Thank you:)

  149. Bernice Wise says:

I would share this with my mother, who had had her confidence shaken recently. (& then I’d hope to borrow them..:))

  154. I give this opportunity to my ‘sista’ who sent me Proverbs 31 Ministries writings for today, which in turn led me here. Thank God for his quiet messages with direction.

  155. Erin Blanco says:

I would love to give this bundle to the ladies in my small group (I can’t pick just one!). Most of them live their days and lives in defeat.

  156. Pamela Hubbart says:

I would love to share this with my friend Thelma Evans. We both struggle with this daily.

  157. Maria Esquivel says:

If I would win this bundle it would be for my 14 year daughter. She is bright and strong yet struggles with the disorder of cutting her self which breaks my heart as a mom. I feel like somewhere I failed . I was not born in a christian family I recieved Christ as my savior in college and he healed me of wounds of and abused child who had an acholic father. When I married a christian man and my children were born into a christian base family I really did not see this for my daughter I thought things would be better for her than they were for me growing up. But this situation really gave a slap in the face that I am struggling and is really testing my faith. Also she wants nothing to do with God she states that she has pleaded to him to change her and he has not done so.

    1. Lynn Cowell says:

Maria – my mom heart breaks for you. I know the pain of pouring your all into your child and yet things still do not go as planned. Friend – we can’t take credit when our kids “turn out” and we can’t take the blame when they don’t. As moms, our place is to pour in His truth. It is God’s job to bring that truth to light so they grasp it as their own. Keep praying for your girl, Maria! God is not done yet!

      1. Maria Esquivel says:

Thank you for your words of encouragement, Lynn.

  161. Evangeline says:

I would love this book for myself. I have always placed a higher value on the opinions of others than God. I’m a notorious people pleaser and one bad look can ruin my whole day. I want the kind of peace and confidence that comes with trusting in God and knowing I can not be shaken.

  162. Bernadette says:

I’d like to share this with my friend, Sue A.
We can both benefit from this.

  163. I would share these books with my daughter who is enduring a very rough season of life. She ended an emotionally abusive relationship; is now raising her children as a single mom, lost two beloved family members and works for a large corporation fraught with “girl drama.” We just had a conversation this morning about loving yourself and having confidence in God.

  165. I would love to share this with my beautiful niece. She’s a new bride and just found out she’s also gonna be a new mommy. She has always struggled with her self-value & needs all the encouragement she can get from God’s Word. Thank you Lynn, for sharing this!

  166. I’m in the same boat as Amber B. People often look to me as a leader at my place of work because I have an “authoritative” personality, but I don’t feel like I can be a leader in my faith because of my lack of confidence in God’s plan.

  167. S. Garden says:

I would share this with my daughter’s teenage birth-sister who recently tried to end her life. I love her as if she were my own daughter and want her to know Jesus in a real and personal way. One girl in particular comes to mind, she has been dealing with suicidal tendencies. She has come a long way, she is much better then where she used to be. 234. This would be a wonderful devotion for my girls ages 13 and 11. However, as I read some of the other posts, if I get drawn for this book, please send it to one of the other sweet young ladies. My heart was breaking and prayers were being sent up, because we can’t even imagine what other people go through. Even as I type those words, I know that our Lord knows, and He can handle it too.

Lynn, these scriptures are such a blessing. Thank you for your words of encouragement. Ladies, please know that many of your stories have touched my heart and my thoughts and prayers are with you. Hold on to Philippians 1:6: “Bring confident in this, that He who began a good work in you will be faithful to complete it until the day of Christ Jesus our Lord.” Jesus isn’t done writing our stories! 245. I would like to give a copy to my Sister-in-law Maureen as well as a copy to myself. I’m too afraid to live and need strong encouragement since my physical pain is so intense. During the last year I have completely forgotten who I truly am. Am I the person my pain has turned me into, am I as horrible as my husband’s family claim that I have been, am I the unloved and forgotten that I feel like I am if I go by how the people in my life have been treating me as or am I really who God says I am. I just don’t know anymore.

    1. Lynn Cowell says:

Don’t give up, Karen! I have not experiencing high level pain (except giving birth without medicine!), but I have seen the effects it has on those I love like crazy. When relief came, so did their former self. Jesus, please empower my friend to find strength in her pain. Strength to survive and strength to be the woman she wants to be even in the pain. Amen

      1. Thank you so much! I will keep my head up. Thank you for your time and your caring. You have no idea how much that means to me.

Many blessings as you continue to share His word and be used by Christ to reach other women.

    Heather K.
