2 Small Bracelets; 1 Big Lesson

“He who is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will reward him for what he has done.”

Proverbs 19:17

As I read this verse this morning, I thought of a ministry my family loves and supports and my friend, Sam. Watch this video to see just why:

Compassion International ministers to the whole child; heart and body.

This Christmas, my husband’s family has decided to not exchange gifts with each other, but instead, to use this money to give to a ministry and invest eternally. I am so excited to give a gift that will not end up in a garage dump in a year or two!

Would your family consider giving eternally too this year? Click here to learn how you can partner with Proverbs 31 Ministries and Compassion International in giving life to a child today!

Today, I’m giving away a copy of Dr. Wess Stafford‘s book, Too Small to Ignore”. Dr. Stafford is the President and CEO of Compassion International. One commenter will win. To enter, just share with me a ministry that is dear to your heart! I’ll announce the winner on Monday!

  1. This is awesome. I am praying about a ministry outreach now

I adore Operation Christmas Child. I have such great memories of putting together boxes when my kids were young. And my daughter even got a letter from her shoebox recipient in Jamaica and they exchanged letters for quite sometime before they started coming back undeliverable. Another one is Josiah’s House, a ministry through my church, Grace Chapel in Leiper’s Fork, TN. It is in the DR and was built to honor the memory of Josiah Berger, my pastor’s son who was killed at age 18 in a car wreck 3 years ago. The purpose is to get young boys off the streets.

  3. Proverbs 31 ministries is close to my heart because they encourage me daily to walk closer with Jesus.

I am currently working with a native pastor in Uganda building a church and a school for children in a village with no power or clean water. But the love of God is so overwhelming in this place. I went for a trip in May of this year, and never dreamed that it would radically change my life forever. We hope to one day have a well there and a dorm for orphaned children.

    1. Beth that is a beautiful goal and pray! Some ask God for bigger homes, nicer cars…you ask to dig a well and provide a home!

I like volunteering with Habitat for Humanity, and I enjoy giving to the local Union Gospel Mission – when I go apple picking or gleaning, I drop off half of my haul, and they are all so sweet and appreciative of my small gesture! The homeless that use the mission’s services often sleep in a small park near my workplace, and they have a bad reputation because of that, but many people don’t see how happy they are to get a “good morning” and how they love being greeted by my dog when we take our morning walks there. God is already rewarding me for my “investment” because those homeless folks make me feel special whenever I see them!

    Gospel For Asia

  7. Hilda, when Greg and I were a very young couple we had an even younger couple in our small group. They now lead Gospel for Asia in the UK. Another ministry close to our hearts !!

  8. I would appreciate your prayers this weekend; I am speaking in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania
    Thank you!

  9. I have always enjoyed the Lottie Moon ministries.

  10. Our family has been picking a “family charity” for the last 7-8 years in lieu of personal Christmas gifts, so we can focus on others… Each year, we rotate which family gets to select their favorite charity — it’s very cool to remember all the different organizations that we’ve helped in the past. We tend to favor Camp Summit — a “summer” camp that caters to disabled kids. Thanks!
