Battle Prayer

With Sunday being Fourth of July, it has my mind thinking of warfare. We are so fortunate to live in a country where men and women are willing to fight daily to guarantee the freedoms we have here in America.

As believers, we are also in a spiritual battle whether we acknowledge that battle or not. Recently, a dear friend of mine recognized the battles I have been faced with this past year and sent me this prayer she wrote:

Dear Jesus,

Would you flood my friend with your love and shower her with comfort? This world is heavy and hard – and it is so hard when what we have dreamed for our lives does not show itself YET. Dear God give her real deal peace.. like you have done for me. DESPITE what we feel – DESPITE what we think God, you CAN and will give us peace to endure what is so hard.

I pray that the vision of the future brings her hope today – and freedom to get through this time of “ideals” and into the realm of your dreams and desires for her future – and the future of her entire family.

Thank you God for those who have gone before us… thank you for telling me this morning and last night that the BATTLE is YOURS not ours. THAT you God are going BEFORE us to fight off the firey darts. And no, God, we CAN’T in our strength get through even a day…. God, thank you for this Word, for my friend… (

2 Choronicles 20:20 – 22:
“Early in the morning they left for the Desert of Tekoa. As they set out, Jehoshaphat stood and said, “Listen to me, Judah and people of Jerusalem! Have faith in the LORD your God and you will be upheld; have faith in his prophets and you will be successful.”

Now this is what we need to do dear friend:

21 After consulting the people, Jehoshaphat appointed men to sing to the LORD and to praise him for the splendor of his holiness as they went out at the head of the army, saying:
“Give thanks to the LORD,
for his love endures forever.”
22 As they began to sing and praise, the LORD set ambushes against the men of Ammon and Moab and Mount Seir who were invading Judah, and they were defeated.”

Friends, We know the WORD and know that as we stand together in SPIRIT, we will see victory and not defeat in our lives and in the lives of our loved ones!
