In my devotion today, 3 Steps to Remind Yourself of God’s FaithfulnessI shared below three steps I take in building up my confidence on Christ by reminding myself of His faithfulness. In a journal or on blank sheets of paper:

  1. Write out the date and what’s going on that is causing you to feel fearful. The Bible says, Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you” (1 Peter 5:7, NIV).

  2. Next, list Bible verses that you can fill your heart with faith and confidence in Christ, pushing out fear, worry and insecurity. A powerful verse is, “Your faithfulness continues through all generations; you established the earth, and it endures” (Psalm 119:90, NIV).

  3. Now comes the hard part: Leave the third step blank. Believe in faith that God will answer your prayer … but trust it’ll happen in His time. And when He does answer it, come back and write the date and how He answered your prayer with a bold red pen! Writing out faith-filled verses, along with your answers to prayer, is the simplest of ways to rehearse God’s faithfulness to you!

    Hi Lynn,
Reading today’s devotion from proverbs 31. I was very moved by your quote ” what you are facing is a challenge and not a defeat. I can relate very much to your article 3 steps to remind yourself of Gods faithfulness because
We are challenged with a similar situation with one of my twin boys with an incurable illness.
Medically speaking. But we serve a great and loving king and praying for a supernatural healing for our son.
And like you said even when things become overwhelming and don’t always understand I think back of Gods faithfulness in my life and I know that he has a good plan for me and my family, and will use our challenge to help others and give them hope. So I just want to thank God for using your devotion to encourage me to never give up. and pray that as I leave the third step blank and believe in faith that one day God will answer my prayer.
    God Bless you
    Linda

Thank you so much for sharing, Linda! You know, in the life of my child whose story I shared today, after that doctor’s visit, her situation actually got worse. Shortly after, she incurred a concussion at work. For weeks, we thought she would not be able to return to college in the fall. Then, just 4 days before she would have left, her doctor released her and she drove off to school.

She is still struggling while God is healing her brain completely, but He is doing a great thing in her life – teaching her and us so very much about His faithfulness!

  2. I am eager to try this method.

  3. In writing down thoughts and Bible verses I may gain better insight into my faith journey.

  4. Doing this is so encouraging for chidrden to see how involved God has been all along. Not just sometimes.

  6. Thank you so much, Lynn! This last year has been a roller coaster ride with my teenage daughter’s health, but God has been faithful. Thank you for this awesome reminder! When things are good, I’m a little forgetful and then when we hit another bump, fear sets in and I know better. I am looking forward to your book being released. Praying that I will be consistent with a prayer journal. Reading God’s Word and seeing what He has already done is the best answer to fear. Lord, forgive me for being afraid!

May God continue to be with your daughter and help her greatly along the way! Prayers for complete healing. Hugs for you both. <3
