How to Study the Bible When The Thought of it Makes You Feel Anxious
If the thought of studying the Bible makes you feel anxious, you’re not alone!
Let’s figure this out together, but first, if you haven’t read my devotion from Proverbs 31 Ministries Encouragement for Today, The Best Beginning for the Day, start there for some encouragement first.
As I shared in my devotion, my mother was the one who modeled studying and meditating on God’s word. For many years, she has hidden His word in her heart. Not only has my own mother modeled this for me, but my mother-in-love too!
Recently, during a medical procedure, my mom was able to fight back fear by meditating on portions of scripture she has committed to memory. This is just one more reason why we need to know God’s word for ourselves!
Gaining the confidence to study and meditate on God’s word doesn’t have to be hard! That is why I created this free download for you: Living & Active: How to Study the Bible.

How to Study the Bible When The Thought of Studying the Bible Makes You Feel Anxious
For those of you looking for a new Bible, I prefer to use the ESV Study Bible. It is a translation that is close to the original language as compared to a paraphrase. The Blue Letter Bible site shared the explanation between the two:
“Though many people think a paraphrase is the same thing as a translation, this is not the case. While a translation attempts to tell the reader what the original text says, a paraphrase attempts to tell the reader what the passage means. Therefore, a paraphrase is more of a commentary on the text of Scripture than it is an accurate rendering of what the text actually says.”
I found this beautiful ESV Study Bible on Amazon. I also like to use ChristianBook.com as a resource for purchasing Bibles, commentaries, and additional books on God’s word!
