Do You Need New Too?
As I’m moving into 2017, I’m seeing something new about me.
I need more.
My old Bible study routine isn’t enough for me anymore.
Maybe it’s like an addiction or medication that has been taken too long. It’s like I’ve grown tolerant; I need different and I need new in order to stimulate growth in my life.
So, I’m trying to shake it up a bit.
Starting my day
Each morning, I love starting my day with the Proverbs 31 Ministries’ First 5 App and Experience Guide. Opening up God’s word in a systematic way, going through one book at a time, fits the orderly gal in me. We’ve just started Joshua and Judges. It’s not too late to join us!
In the middle of my day, a pick-me-up is Encouragement for Today. It always puts God’s word right in the heart of what I’m going through.
Lastly, is the idea of “sandwiching” my day with God.
I like to read for at least 30 minutes each night to make the transition to sleep. Usually this is reserved for a light novel. But with so many new studies out, I’ve found this is a wonderful time to soak my mind in God’s word before I fall asleep.
Jana Kennedy-Spicer has introduced me to a whole new way of studying God’s word – Bible Study with journaling! If you’ve never given the peaceful practice of coloring a try … this is the time to try it out!
Maybe “new” is exactly what you need to begin pursuing God in a fresh way!
What steps are you taking to grow your faith in 2017?
Give one of these studies a try and then come back and let me how “new” is going!
