New Series: 5 Secrets for Stomping Insecurity
For many women, from the youngest to the oldest, the battle with insecurity is a daily occurrence. We long to appear confident, yet reaching this ideal seems unattainable. Each day, self-doubt can creep into a new place in our hearts. Fear exasperates it only further. Waking up each morning, anxiety begins to gnaw on us even before we open our eyes. Questions press down on on our mind: “What does she have that I don’t have? Will I ever have what it takes? Am I pretty enough? Will God fulfill His promises to me?” As the questions come, the anxiety rises … and we’re not even out of bed yet.
If not addressed and overcome, where do these questions lead?
Self-doubt, anxiety, low self-esteem, poor body image, unhealthy dieting, anorexia, bulimia, cosmetic surgery, self-mutilation, violence, even suicide.
Lack of confidence, self-doubt, anxious, fearful, insecure … every girl, every woman has felt these unnerving feelings at one time or another even if we don’t want to admit it.
Over the next 5 Mondays, my daughter, Madi and I, will share 5 secrets we are learning to find approval for ourselves even when we’ve lacked the acceptance of others. We want to come along side to empower you and the girls you are investing in by bringing the understanding that living a life of security requires us to step out of our comfort zones of fear should we choose to do the hard work of leaving behind seeking people’s approval in order to gain unwavering confidence.
