Seeing Our Invisible God in An Uncertain World

Did something happen this year that you just didn’t see coming? (I’d love to hear about it in the comments below!)

I absolutely did! Several in fact, beginning with all three of my children getting married and now living out of state. (Oh, and also my husband retires…today! I am sure this big life change is bringing with it a world of uncertainties I haven’t thought of or prepared for!)

Whenever I write, I am sure to experience the testing of that topic in real-time. In this season it has been looking for God, expecting to see an invisible God in an uncertain world, when those uncertainties threaten to overwhelm me. Since that is happening right now, it’s time to look at the life of Esther again!

It’s Time to Study Esther Together!

Amy Carroll and I are thrilled to invite you to study the life of Esther with us… simple, yet deep. Yes, I put those two words in the same sentence on purpose; we’ll study this rich book, going deep, but keeping the “work” simple.

When Do We Start??

Beginning the week of January 9th, we’ll begin the online study of Esther: Seeing Our Invisible God in an Uncertain World.

Each week, you’ll study the Bible study content in Esther at your own pace. Then, on Wednesday evenings, we’ll gather for a Zoom meeting where either Amy or I will do a bonus teaching from that week’s passage. We’ll follow it up by discussing it as a community. We’ll keep it simple but rich!

  1. My daughter’s husband has caused a deep family rift in our family. I haven’t seen my 3 grandchildren to spend time with them in 5 months. The kicker is they go to my church, so I have been avoiding it because when I see them it is like a knife in an open wound. We didn’t see them for Christmas-it’s an awful mess I never expected. I’m having a very hard time finding God in this mess.

Sandra, I can’t imagine how deep this pain runs. I, too, have had troubles where I have wondered, “What can God do with this?” and one thing I know that doesn’t help is quick answers or scriptures given to us that are made to feel like a band-aid when the wound needs stitches.

I will tell you that during my very painful season, I have read the Psalms every day. Reading David’s words helps my soul to move toward healing, even if the circumstance isn’t changing. David moves between anger and worship and everything in between. You also may find comfort there as you listen for any direction God will send your way as well as wait for Him to do what only He can.

Father – we need you so very much. Amen

  2. I had this happen , I found a book
By Shari Mc McGregor “Done with
the crying” she also sends letters,
from others that this is their reality.
I can’t rate this high enough, there are
so many of us parents who have been
in this same situation, including Shari.
Check her out on google, and truly
    know you are not alone.
    Blessings
    M.D.

Thank you so much, Missy! I really appreciate it!

I have my study book of Ester. However, I don’t do Zoom. I have tried and have discovered it is not user friendly for people in my age group. Believe me when I say I have tried. I’m guessing this study is intended for younger women who work during the day; hence, the Wednesday evening Zoom class. Whatever I do needs to be done during the day and evenings are for home and family time. That said, is there another way to get the teaching? Since I have already registered for the study of Esther do I need to register again as the email says? I don’t have a website as asked below so I am confused.

    1. Lynn Cowell says:

      Hi Candy,

Thank you so much for signing up for the study! I know that ZOOM is just not a great option. We have chosen it as we have heard from some that they do not have social media, so Facebook is not an option for them. That really only leaves ZOOM for a live connection.

I am reaching out to Amy to have her verify that you are already signed up.
I am also reaching out to Amy to verify that we will record the teaching portion of the ZOOM meetings that we can share.

      Thank you!
      Lynn

      1. Hi Candy – Amy has sent out the first email for the study. Did you get it? If so, you’re all set. If not, you’ll need to go to http://www.estherbookstudy.com to sign up.

We will be recording the teachings and sending the recordings of the teachings out to our study email list on Thursdays.
