Strong Tower
“Mom, were you just praying for me? I mean, like in the past 10 minutes?” My 16 year old son asked me last night at when I picked up my cell phone. Zach had been out with some friends when it had started to drizzle. Not realizing just how slippery the road can get, he did a 180 in the middle of 4 lane Providence Road in our Suburban, while turning through an intersection.
This day I had prayed plenty of times for Zach – for all of my kids in fact. Specifically, I had prayed for protection for all of my family. My middle daughter, Mariah, was traveling to Raleigh with her choir and was for the first time saying with another choirester in the home of a family we had never met. Her choir director had assured us they were all safe, but I found myself needing some extra time in prayer for reassurance from our Father. Little did I know, that it was in fact my son who would be in dire need of Divine protection. Who else had been protected yesterday? Mariah while traveling to Raleigh, Nick, my nephew, while flying here to see us or Madi while on a walk with her friend?
How many times has He protected us? Every day. Times we are not even aware. Proverbs 14:26-27 says “In the fear of the Lord there is strong confidence, and His children will have a place of refuge. The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life, to turn one away from the snares of death.” Lord, thank you so for shutting the snares of death yesterday in the lives of those I love. Today, in the middle of fast pitch softball, a rugby game and a beautiful choir concert – do the same, Lord. We need you! You are our strong tower.
