The Son’s Tan
Since I was having my time with the Lord later than usual today, the morning sun was glaring right into my eyes before I got started. Still, there was something inside of me that didn’t want to move away from my favorite chair. The warmth of the morning sun was touching my face, making me feel very cozy in that spot. As I began to talk to the Lord about all the things that my day would hold, I started to think of the days of summer not too far off and the soft brown skin that would result from spending time in this same sunshine. Summer’s tan – an obvious sign that we’ve been soaking up the rays (or have been fortunate enough to have gone somewhere warm for spring break!)
The Son…Lord, give me a tan from Your Son. Draw me every day to sit under your Son, soaking in His love, His peace, His joy. Give my spirit skin Your glow – an obvious sign to others that I have been soaking up Your rays. Help me purposefully get in Your light, that I might reflect You in my every day – to my kids, to my husband, to the cashier at Aldi (even if the line goes all the way to the back of the store again!). May my tan be real – not a bronzer I picked up at the cosmetic counter to make others think I have been in the Son. Only you can tan me Lord.
Exodus 31:13 “…that you may know that I am the Lord who sanctifies you.”
