Hello! If you are joining me here today from my Encouragement for Today, The Prescription We Need, with Proverbs 31 Ministries, welcome! Today, one of you who choose to comment will receive a beautiful copy of Proverbs 31 Ministries’ new NIV Real-Life Devotional Bible for Women. See below for more details!
God’s word is filled with the prescriptions we need each and every day!
Here are just a few of the prescriptions I take on a regular basis:
“…in quietness and trust is your strength..” (NIV)
This one is particularly important to me as it hangs in my kitchen. Don’t you know that I often need to be quiet and trust God in the room in which most family drama stirs up!
“But I am like an olive tree flourishing in the house of God; I trust in God’s unfailing love for ever and ever.” (NIV)
This one also hangs in my kitchen. I have to remind myself constantly that the only place I can put my trust is in the Lord’s unfailing love for me! This can keep me from riding too high or too low on the roller coaster of life…His consistent love!
Ezekiel 36:26 reminds me:
“I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.” (NIV)
This picture hangs at the foot of my bed; it is the first thing I see when I wake up. The last line of it says: “This is not the end of the story.” When you have a loved one you are praying for, it is important to remind yourself continually that God is the one who writes our stories. He is the one who gives new hearts and new spirits; who turns stony hearts to soft ones.
As you can see, I take many of my prescriptions through my eyes because I am a visual learner. You might take your’s through your ears, listening to God’s word through a Bible app on your device or worship music. The important thing is not how you take it, but being sure to take it!
Today, I am so honored to be giving away a copy of God’s powerful Word to one of you! Please share with us your favorite prescription verse or your favorite way to take in God’s word each day in the comments below. I’ll be announcing the winner of the Bible next Wednesday on my Wednesday Wisdom Tips! (If you don’t already get them, be sure to sign up at www.LynnCowell.com, putting your email in the first box on the left!
Have a terrific weekend!
P.S. I have had a lot of people ask about Mariah’s food sensitives.
I took Mariah to a Naturopathic doctor, who tested her using non-evasive methods. In less than an hour, we knew exactly what was bothering her body: wheat, milk, sugar, millet and spelt. She immediately took these completely out of her diet and added some food supplements and enzymes. She feels terrific and I might add, looks better than ever! I highly recommend a Naturopathic doctor! If you are in the Charlotte area, Mariah saw Dr. Michelle Dillion.
Here is a picture of her last weekend for prom. She is on the left.
